“Angry, entitled fans stunt creativity and innovation” says Treyarch

The guys has got a very good point. It's true what he says, all of it.

I don't really have many words to say about this, since it feels kinda hopeless in discussing this matter over and over again. I just hope that developers will somehow grow some balls and do what they want to, and because they love what they do, and not doing what their frenzied fans tell them to do.

As long as they keep making games that are fun, I'm all for it. I also hope that they realize that there are still many gamers out there that are still gamers for the love of it. Stop listening to the crazy fanboys and make the games you want to. If they don't want to buy it, screw them. Let them go play with their other toys.

A few friendly words to Treyarch though: Your Black Ops game was awesome, really enjoyable and fun, but please, for the love of God, put your next game through QA before you release it.

1st of all. Bugs and glitches and a broken game is not "Creativity" just like painting a goatse is not considered art.

As for fanboys. Those who say "it's more of the same" should than go and play a different franchise. Those who complain it's drifted from the core of the franchise are usually right. If you make a sequel to a game, you make it as similar to the original as possible while adressing the conserns it had.

If you want to be creative make a new franchise. Create, don't re-create.

Does he have a point ? Well , lets see , hes complaining about people rating the product ..
Hmm..
How is that any different from anything else in the word ? Rating service ? Rating quality ?
He is complaining about people rating their games.
I wonder if the Oscars should be cancelled as people award the best *whatever* movie , and some people who did the same amount of effort didnt get a damn thing. Theres also awards for the worst movies .. Hows that any different ?
Should game companies now flame gaming blogs that give a game a bad review ?
Thats where critiquing comes in , if the review is constructive perhaps it can be used for future reference , or maybe not.
You cant please all the people all of the time.
I dont know if he's the PR guy , but if he is , he should STFU. If I wrote a review about one of their games and he was to email me about taking down a bad review , I wonder how that would be different than censorship ?

So he would rather have all the gamers in the world not preview games , have their own in-house testers release all review content , sue people who release unofficial reviews , and slap a lawsuit on anyone dare complain about any bugs ?

The customer is KING.The king might not always be right but the king pays your bills at the end of the day.

PR people should stick to what they do best , promote games and keep the clients happy.

I have to agree with him.

Some people play games only to complain about minor nuances instead of taking the game for what it is and enjoying it. Yes, there's a kind of idealism but there's something daft about ranting about a great, in-depth game because it has a couple of minor bugs (Fallout: New Vegas) while in the next breath praising a similar game with zero depth, an entirely linear storyline and not an ounce of consequence (Fallout 3) just because it has less bugs.

Bugs can be fixed, an utterly foul game with no life cannot.

I feel that the only legitimate complaint a customer ever has is about DRM and game-breaking bugs. After that you're just nitpicking about the creative process which is in no way your 'vision.' It's like going up to JK Rowling and saying, "You bitch!" because, in her literary work she offed Snape.

Leave the creative process alone and up to devs. Regardless, it's always your choice whether or not to buy the game if you don't like it. No-one ever said, "Zomg, the day it's released you HAVE to grab it off the shelf!" rather than waiting and seeing what friends and online communities have to say about it.

The thing I find amazing is how many people seem to play certain games because they expect it to be something completely different and then bitch about it while, irony, the general consensus is that this sort of idiocy is tolerated.

I agree as well!

No one else feels so entitled like gamers do, often crossing the line. I enjoy Black Ops even though it has its flaws and in my opinion still can't reach the quality of Modern Warfare. It doesn't matter though since Activision is running that series into the ground full speed!
