MWEB discusses local online gaming drive

We shall see how this pans out.

Basically they are taking a direct shot at SGS.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, SGS has pretty much fallen apart over the last year.

I'm interested to know what their plans for moderation would be though as this is basically the problem with the SGS servers. When people realize nobody is watching, the scumbags come out of the woodwork.

Steam servers??? Woohoo!

Being the local mirror for Steam didn't really pan out for WebAfrica, even though I still buy 1 GB at their inflated prices from them just to have the functionality which only works, at best, 50% of time. If MWEB can do a Steam mirror properly, that is, have games updated very close to release time and have sufficient server capacity and bandwidth to enable fast consistent downloads, then I am very likely to move over to them. Keep bringing the awesome MWEB, it's really working for you.

Your post makes no sense at all.

I think he was referring to this
We have just deployed our own Steam servers in CT and JHB,” said Hershaw.
The addition of Steam content mirrors to the MWEB network is great news for those using MWEB ISP, as this means that Steam data content will be served from a local source, reducing download and response times. It will also reduce the costs incurred by MWEB for traffic utilised on international undersea cables, hopefully reducing service costs to the end-user in the long run.

No it does not make sense since.

Because Webafrica steam servers fall under freezone, so if your lucky you get your games without using bandwidth.

Were as the other you still need full bandwidth. But I know he said 50% of the time. Just last month I have saved 20gigs on freezone.
And the fact is there are already 2 IS servers as well if that was the reason Phoenix.
