Do you suffer from 'gamer shame'?

Actually I try and breach the gamer subject with chicks when we talk about hobbies etc.

If they're interested it's easy to get the convo rolling.
 
nope not at all, i bring it up as much as possible... i have found guys are easy to rope in that way... not that thats what i do... the BF and i share games unless we want to compete against each other then we buy them x2
 
I do the same thing as Tinman, if I'm with people I know don't game I don't bother trying to talk to them about it. I tried at one stage but the glazed expressions I got from people kinda put me off. :rolleyes:

Hell, I got provincial colours for BF2 at the first MSSA comp but if I dare bring that up......... :eek:

No, I would just assume that if I met a cute girl at a bar that she would not be a gamer. Not because cute girls can't be gamers, just because most people are not gamers - especially if they are at a bar :P

I couldn't really hide it even if I wanted to though. Usually when you meet someone they ask what you do for a living, and my answer is "I run a video games website". Slight give away. Having said that, when they ask about it I curb my enthusiasm so as not to come across as a frothing-at-the-mouth geek xD

Unless they are gamers, in which case they often know MyGaming and then it's just one massive nerdrgasm.

It's not that I'm ashamed of playing games, but rather that I'm ashamed to be associated with a lot of the people who do. Evidence? Look at some of the comments under my articles.
 
My girlfriend insists that I play games in the evenings, because for her it is like watching a movie. She will sit and watch it all day long if she can. Her favourites to watch included:

Assassins Creed 123
Oblivion
Far Cry 2
World at War (to this day she shouts "ENEMY RECON PLANE" when a crop duster flies over our house... lol)
Mass Effect 1/2

Back on topic:

I never thought that gaming is some kind of nerdy thing to do. I never used to worry about talking about games or asking people about them. These days however I can't just talk about it anymore though. I used to have an uncle that would talk about games with me for hours and hours. He was the one who introduced me to some of the better games in the day: DOOM, Baldur's Gate, Diablo, StarCraft, WarCraft, etc,

Sadly I lost my uncle to a brain tumor, but I intend to continue his gaming legacy by means of doing it or talking about it as much as I can.

There is no shame in gaming... unless you are the type who attacks someone who doesn't enjoy the same console as you or has a less powerful PC than you.

hehe thanks. She gets frustrated if she can't play a game. She doesn't have the whole Xbox gamepad thing down. She did try LIMBO, Banjo Kazooie, and Worms. On the PC, though, she played alot of Sims, Worms, Unreal Tournament 2004. She was pretty good for someone as stunningly sexy as she is :D

It's just because you can comment under those articles with anonymity. On the other hand though, if you abuse anonymity to be a total doosh, then you probably are a bit of a twit.

I can say one thing and that is if the world ever ends in an apocalypse, I'd rather be stranded somewhere with a bunch of gamer people than people who don't play games :p
