Local distributors wary of decreasing broadband prices?

Well maby its time for them to come up with ways of getting people in there shops.
We have local distributors here that still have games for full prices and its been in the bargain bins online for whiles now.

True Story. Saw RDR @ CNA for R233, BT has it for R499 and Musica still has it for R699 or something. Titles like Infamous that hit platinium ages ago still full price. So yeah.

Yeah or incredible corruption here put the R50 deadspace next to the R300 deadspace box.

You know, it's amazing Musica, Look & Listen, CD Warehouse and all others of their ilk aren't complaining as well. Isn't piracy of music higher than games? :)

Stores need to keep their pulse on the price of games, and KEEP STOCK OF THEM FFS!

Nothing annoys me more than having to hop from shop to shop to find a popular title game.

I am referring to the likes of the Musica's and CNA's, they are really bad at A: keeping stock and B: dropping the price when every other store has.

Only physical store I'm willing to buy games from is BT, otherwise I'll order online (Take2, BT, Kalahari). Nothing irritates me more than being given something that's been opened by the store staff for whatever reason >.<'

*blink* I don't understand?

We get the same collector's editions as the rest of the world except for the very few territory-specific ones (i.e. Czech/Polish ones).

Collector editions rely on the developers/publishers, not so much our distributors (Megarom, Ster Kinekor, etc). We probably get some of the best prices on them as well :p

I agree, wtf is with stores opening games?? :wtf:

Look and listen are my worst, not only do they open the game, but on a number of occasions now the cover is buggered.

can't say that bt's system is bright as i 've numerously selected an item that's already out of stock. not to mention 2 or three incidents where not enough was previsioned for. then there's the attitude of just changing your order if you can't be helped. it's far from perfect.

kalari is terrible

lookand listen is terrible

loot takes money first then tried to order, you have to wait for reversal.

take 2 lists as wishlist for their so called "pre-ordering"

<insert ce kak reason here>

this is why i would like to just have a decent CE or even normal pre-ordering option in RSA. out of a fit of rage i went with GOG's witcher 2 because BT fucked up, yet again.

*nod* I haven't bought a game from one of those stores in years. I remember one time (actually think it was Look & Listen as well) when they took the disc out to show me... The way they took that disc out, dear gaming gods, I'm amazed the disc didn't split.

I also hate the security tags they occasionally plaster to either the casing or the cover -.-' But what really grates my cheese is that when they've opened it, you can be almost certain that the manual has managed to get damaged in some way while in storage.

Can't stand it :p Totally fucks with my OCD :D

Well, Proph, you DO seem to pre-order rather late :D And CEs are, by definition, limited in supply.

hardly,

vegas was as soon as it listed.
witcher was a few days later.
shugon 2 was as it listed, heck i even mailed the fuckers to get it listed.

seriously their system is lacking and if i hear another idiot excuse like it takes long to update ( which it doesn't as i'm myself do web/sharepoint/application development ) going to cringe. bt must have the worst, kakkest system known to man.

:e
i'm still of the opinion that our pre-ordering system is far from perfect. more on topic, if i can get deadspace 2 legally for R160 why would i want to pay more in store ? what is motivating me from not getting it digitally ?

::e
my god how hard is it to

1) user order
2) deduct and update total
3) remove from web if not enough

Well I am yet to buy a game from one of these stores as a gift for someone, and probably never will :D

But lets say I was, how the hell must I hand over a opened box? Like heres your present I swear to go I didn't open it and play it for half an hour! :o

This is the challenge that all traditional stores face - what are they offering above GOG/Steam etc to justify the cost.

For example - a digital version will not be delayed by customs!

*nod* I can't say that I'm a fan of BT's system at all either, but you know how often I've ranted about it by now, I'm sure :p

So far, I haven't had any trouble with their pre-orders for CEs, but I have pre-ordered as soon as things have been listed as well.

As of now, I have the following on pre-order with them:
Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition
The Witcher 2 Collector's Edition
Dungeon Siege 3 Limited Edition
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Augmented Edition
Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition

They screw any of those up, there will be hell to pay. I've pre-ordered and paid for them (well, the ones which have prices listed), the entire point of pre-ordering is to ensure I get it. If they were unable to supply all of them, they shouldn't have allowed people to continue ordering beyond their allotment.

Damnit... That's the problem with ordering from BT... You never know if you can rely on them >.<'

I will say that so far I haven't had any problems with orders... Bah... I just hope it stays that way or there really will be drama of legendary proportions unfolding at my local BT store come release day >.<'
