Japan video of the ground splitting and moving!

That water at the end that keeps "lifting" like that shows just how much the ground is moving! Hectic shit!

And ja, there is no way I would that calm filming it!

Good Lord, That is insane stuff. I cant believe that guy could be so calm :P

lol ... well ... you have to realise, once you're in an open space you're pretty much as safe as you're going to get, so there's no real point in running around like a headless chicken :p Although I admit he's a lot calmer than I would be. He's either lived in Japan for a while, and as such is used to the occasional quake, or he forgot to include in his video the wheelbarrow he carries his balls around in :D

Man, I feel so bad for these people. And then that volcano had to go erupt as well. As if the quake and the tsunami wasn't enough.

Heard about the volcano - it's being mentioned but it doesn't seem to be getting a hell of a lot of attention.

If you really think about it, despite the fact that it's one of the most powerful earthquakes in recent times, that wasn't even what caused all the damage - the real killer was the tsunami. The volcano seems to be in a relatively low-density habitation area - and it's been active for a couple of months now, although the earthquake probably helped this particular eruption a bit. But its also over 1,100km away from the quake - so the thing was probably going to blow on its own at some point anyways - JP geologists issued a warning in the first half of Feb.

Volcanoes are a fact of life in Japan, just as much as earthquakes are - apparently Japan has about 10% of the world's active volcanoes at the moment.

What I meant to show with this is, all these things happening at once must be really kak for them hey, just imagine..

Nah nah ... no worries. I get what you're saying.

But, I'm thinking back now to the first couple of tweets I got via Twitter ... the first ones came through while the thing was in progress ... they were completely matter of fact. Some were even joking about it. The panic only started when the tsunami hit.

Someone mentioned to me that while this is terrible and all, it makes one think if it's not mother nature's way of exacting some revenge over the dolphin hunts. See
for details. Now this might sound crass and insensitive, but I tend to lean towards agreeing. Loss of life like this is never pleasant or nice or justifiable, but I wouldn't blame Mother Earth if she was slightly pissed and got some of her own back.

As for the New Zealand quakes, I think she just missed. I suspect she was aiming for Australia. Simply because no one like Australia...

Someone loaded the video I previously posted onto Youtube, so here it is for those who don't have Facebook.

Apparently the nuclear reactor thing is spiraling a bit out of control. Hope they manage to sort it out.

DenSweep - the simple reason I get aggro when I hear people saying things like this is ... well ... simple. This has nothing to do with gods, spirits, divinity, or a bloody big ball of rock getting pissed at the things living on it. It's reality - it's PLATE TECTONICS. It's going to happen regardless.

The Japanese are living in a reality where their country is situated on the borders of 3 seperate continental plates. Those borders didn't simply appear the day they started hunting dolphins.

Likewise, if the Japanese suddenly become the most enlightened, spiritual and green vegetarian nation on earth, the volcanoes aren't going to suddenly fuck off and say ... "Ya ... you learnt your lesson; we're gonna go bug someone else now ... like maybe the Americans, cos, y'know ... they suck too" - and those plate borders aren't going to magically disappear either.

This is why I find these comments in general massively distasteful, not to mention ignorant. And I'm getting to the point where I'm getting ready to go completely ape-shit when I hear people say it. Although I wonder at the same point if losing my cool is worth the aggravation.

And I'm not saying it is mother nature or some funky spirit or whatever, but I do find a small amount of justice in what has happened. I know it wasn't a million dolphins flapping their tails to cause a big wave. I do know what I can remember form Std 7 geography, which granted isn't much, but enough to know it is faults in the planet that cause shit to shift making a earthquake. Call me ignorant and tasteless if you like, that is your prerogative, just as it is my prerogative to feel and say what I feel and say. I'm not professing to be correct or that what I say is justified, I just don't as sorry for them as I maybe I should. And it's not just to do with the dolphin thing.

Loss of life is always sad and unnecessary, no matter how it occurs. The thing here though, it doesn't really impact my life in a personal way. Now again, call me heartless, but it hasn't affected me. If I had lost someone or something similar had to happen to me or someone I know and/or love, I would be pissed. Double standards? Yeah, but that's just me. As I said, I'm saddened by the loss of life and the complete havoc it has caused to the Japanese people, but it is not keeping me up at night or causing me to lose sleep.

Agreed. Earth is not going to be getting the human race back FFS!
