What do you guys think about biostar mobos. Upgrading to a biostar p67 build 2600k prob ocing to 4ghz

I had a P965 or something. First one's PCI slots died, second one's IDE died, third one had random crashes when I tried to use my 4870x2 but was fine with a GTX275, so I bought an abit p43 to replace it. Now I'm on a gigabyte x58a-ud3r and I realised why everyone says you should spend a bit extra on your mobo or suffer the consequences.

My new system I got earlier this month:

Logitech rumble pad 2
Xbox 360 for windows controller

Samsung 226bw 22 inch lcd( getting replaced by the 24 inch samsung bx2450 next week)

Why are you using a 5400rpm HDD with a high end pc?

STAY AWAY!!

I can not emphasize this enough. They have a really shitty track record. I used to work for a distributor that brought the Biostar range in and failure rate was 1 in every 4 sold. Rather look at, Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Intel or something, but do NOT consider Biostar. There is a Afrikaans saying, "Goedkoop koop is duur koop" that has never been more appropriate.

DOn't listen to Densweep he is talking BS.

Biostar is by far the premier manufacturer of computer equipment. From Motherboards, to VGA cards BIOSSTAR is THE best out there.

Oh hang on a moment got Jessica Alba on the phone, be right back.

Quick Question, how did you do that? Just upgrade the flash?

Can you do the same with a 5850? How exactly does it work and what are the gains, exactly?

Hey,

Don't know about the 5850, but the 6950 is an underclock 6970, the only difference between the cards, physically, is that the 6970 has an 6 and 8 pin power connections and the 6950 only has 2x 6pins.

I downloaded the bios of a 6970, flashed my card with it and changed the gains in CCC to +20.

3D Mark 11 went up from 4900+ to 5400+, can't remember exact figures.

Ah ok because I read up on flashing a 5850 but there is a physical difference in the cards, apparently, which is 1200 stream processors. And apparently flashing it causes problems. Don't know how true that is though. Never know how technically adept some of the people are on internet forums lol :D
