Nvidia officially announces the GTX 590

This card looks and sounds damn awesome, but my common sense tells me that I should rather get the 6990. Performance to cost ratio comparisons between the two cards is not very favorable in the case of the 590. It's just going to be way too expensive.

RRP is $699 so it really isn't that expensive, and it looks like it will drive the prices of other 500 series cards down as that price point is pretty much what the GTX580 currently e-tails for.

Wowsers, I just bought two GTX580s and I was already worried about what the power requirements on my box would have been. I don't want to know what kind of PSU you need for two of these. Eek!! The other major concern is that NVidia's drivers have never really properly supported these 2-in-1 cards before...I guess we'll see what happens, especially in SLi configuration.

That's another reason I will always be skeptical about buying Nvidia cards. I really want to see what it's like but I just haven't had an Nvidia card in such a long time. ATI has served me well and I don't know whether I should make the move. Also, my PC is AMD so I really don't know..
