Duke Nukem: Forever delayed (phoreals)

Well I honestly say it's a Marketing Hoax and seeing as 3DRealms would pull April 1st pranks saying it's coming and stuff... I mean why can't gearbox do the same?? and since when has a game made in the states been released globally first before their own country??

I'm just thinking outside of the box here and not looking at what is being said in the media etc... I'm just looking at the various aspects, that jump out at me and say that they are just sommer playing around, because why?? Because they can and they wanna get a raise outta people.

Thats just my perspective.

I tend to think the same dude, it would be funny though! Haha, it would be great, actually. Nothing wrong with a bit of humour. Either way, I'm not too bothered. :D

I was reading the Gearbox forums and came across this from the GBX Community Manager... I still think it's a hoax but ja believe what you like after this...

We have a commitment to our fans to get the game out as early as possible and every day counts. New games are available on Tuesday in North America so we’re getting the game out as early as possible in this territory. The international markets do not adhere to this release timing, and it just happens that they will be able to release the game a few days before North America. We don't want to hold it back, we want to get it into the hands of consumers as soon as possible.

So like one of their members did, I'm doing too for now

this guy makes perfect sense

This is so obviously a joke. So basically, what you are testifying to here, is that -- GBX wants us to wait an extra month, but they wouldn't make the international release wait an extra week? Game comes out 14th in America, 17th international, it would make NO difference to GBX.

Not only this, but you think they are working up till June 9th? Game is gold atleast 4 weeks before it's released. So they would already be sitting on finished boxed copies.

The entire thing makes no sense, from an industry perspective. To outsiders who have no idea how the industry works, sure, they can bluff and make you believe, but when you know how absolutely arbitrary this delay is..... You have to ask yourself, is it worth it?

The answer here would be no. Also, before the announcement of the official release date, the retailers knew. So if you were to change the date, the retailers *should* know before we did.

Nothing here makes a lick of sense. Anything that you can fix in a month, has to be small bug fixes, and would be more cost effective to ship and then patch, rather than delay the ship.

Randy even says in the video "It's not even April 1st yet." We know this, him saying that is like a "hint" to it being part of their April 1st prank.

Duke has ALWAYS had April 1st pranks. It's practically in Duke's DNA. They also said they wouldn't put a date on it till they knew 100% they'd hit that date. The only way to do that is to be sitting on a finished game, which they were..... They very specifically said before they announced the release that they were witholding the release as their analysts nailed down the best month to release the game... this is a ninja hidden statement implying the game was virtually done. (Which we know it is, from the playthroughs at Titty City.)

The SP has been done for a long ass time now. The MP is probably done as well. Anything left to do now, is just minor bug fixes -- if even.

Big Joke is obviously Big Joke. And yes, Like Kaisersoze said, it is brilliant..... truely brilliant.

If it was just that the ps3 version needed another month, they would just push the PS3 version back a month if they really wanted to get the game out as fast as possible. If they are willing to ship international first, they would be willing to push the ps3 version back. We see this all the time in game development......

Also, why would a delay be considered a "Very special message from greabox" ??? Makes zero sense....

What's really funny to me, is how hey trolled the international buyers. You aren't getting it first, but it's not likely to matter, since we'll be playing the game May 3rd, and May 6th respectively. I'd put my testicles on the table for this one.

I thought it would be marketing also. But I still prefer BF3's marketing buildup :D

Ok so I just read the NAG Article and I see Duke is still on for the 6th of May...... This makes me wonder, if whether or not I proved my point!! :p

Ok seriously guys and I'm hoping Tarryn can confirm this seeing as shes clued up with the NAG folks as to what the dealio is!!

/summons Tarryn to the stand :p

USA: 3rd May
Globally: 6th May

Er... When I read that Duke article in NAG I thought it was one very well though-out April Fool's joke... that and NAG only hit my "nearby" shelves on 1 April which I thought was weird... Not sure if I'm the only one. NAG has known to pull of stuff like this before.

That or I've missed the plot entirely.

But But, if you read all over I think from the beginning it's been aimed at being released on the 3rd of May (in the States that is). So if NAG are sticking to the release date along with the distributors here in SA, the question still stands as to why Gearbox has been playing around with a launch as big as this. I reckon this is probably the most anticipated launch and it's going to be big!! Why let people down now when it's near completion and ready to go... I still call BS on the changed launch...

Maybe it's just going to appear on the shelves randomly in the next two months as some sort of in-joke.

Nah dude, this launch is going to be massive and these guys want it just as much as the rest of the world does. So ja I don't see why they would screw things up now...

Yeah I know it's highly unlikely, but imagine walking into a shop next week and it's just sitting on the shelf as if out of nowhere. That would surprise the hell out of anybody.

Dude I would run and dive at it, like it was gold being thrown at me. Then I would pay for it, lock it in a briefcase, handcuff the briefcase to my arm and run like hell and not let anything stop me until I got home to play it...

See they would expect that kind of behaviour!
Which would result in a massive word of mouth campaign (see? Lets the fans do the work) and therefore more sales

Dude I wouldn't say anything, and I certainly wouldn't come out into Day light for the next few weeks, considering the gameplay time they have built into the game :D

What the cracker guys? Hahahahaha... What's this balls about it randomly being in-store without anyone knowing. Hahahaha, you guys crack me up! :D:D

Its so that the aliens can't hijack the shipments of the game.

Laugh all you will, it's an original plan. Probably not properly thought out, but original.
