The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (PC)

It's Monkey Island! Yay!
However the game that was awesome many years ago is suddenly not that great anymore. Games sure have changed. It was fun playing it again and a nice touch is to switch to the old view ingame at any time. I just can't believe that I used to see the original as such a great game.

Still worth the play.

Verdict: 6.3

Assassin's Creed 2 (360)

Awesome game with an awesome ending. Huge improvement over the first game. I look forward to playing Brotherhood.

Verdict: 9.0

Crysis 2 (Xbox)

Considerably better that the original, vastly improved level design and the gameplay is a lot more focused. Story was still a bit "WTF" at times. Graphics are phenomenal and it has a roughly 12 hour campaign to boot. I'm looking forward to replaying on Supersoldier.

8.9

Totally agree. Its not a benchmarking tool that's interactive its actually a game now.

crysis 2 9/10
Loved it to bits. Been a while since I played a decent sci-fi fps.
Wants more.

And also seeing new york crumble was fun:D

Mass Effect 2 (PS3)
8/10
A bit buggy, just lost all my save games on the last mission :'(
Graphics are really good, the worlds look quite beautiful. Sound is great, story great of course, combat is good but becomes a bit repetitive regarding biotic powers. Would be nice to have had greater variety between the teammates. But thats nothing major. AI is great, enemies dont stay in cover and wait for death. Great DLC included. Thats many 'greats' I got in there. Overall good game. And lots of replay value.

Crysis 2 (9/10) PS3

One of the best FPS single player campaigns I've played in a long time. Plus the multiplayer is really good, as long as you can get into a local game.

Dragon Age 2, 6/10

Dragon Age 2 might have fared better being labeled as a spin-off. It plays around with a lot of experimentals and limits you tremendously. When I play a traditional RPG, very much like DA:O was, I decide within the first 4 or 5 hours of the game exactly who my character is, where he comes from and what he thinks of the world. That is, simply put, not possible here.

First of all I’d like to comment on the story. I felt something in this game that I’ve never felt before in any other RPG and that’s feeling completely unmotivated to think about my decision. Besides one or two minor influences, you basically have no control over your game, and sadly the decision making of an RPG game is almost non-existent here. I know it’s already been explained before, but what bothered me is that I don’t even have to worry about what decisions I make really because my party members seldom have responses to them, and the worst thing that can happen when making a bad decision is that one of my party members can hate me and subsequently gains a buff, which is fucking queer. This is by far the worst story there has been in any BioWare game that I’ve played.

Speaking of characters, at times they feel like stiff cardboard figures who only speak because devs forced them to. You can’t initiate massive conversations about lore/otherwise with your party members, except for when they decide to speak to you when you visit their homes. Even in this, your options are very limited as to where you can lead a conversation even though there will probably always be an option that angers and one that delights your party member.

The conversation wheel is an improvement but for two small details. Each convo option has a symbol next to it that shows what response/emotion your dialogue will evoke in the adressed person. The second thing is that the phrase representing a much longer dialogue in the wheel sometimes doesn’t really convey what you will say when you select it.

Gameplay, like a lot of other things in DA2, is very opinion driven. BioWare decided that they want DA2 to be played as either a traditional RPG or a more modern action RPG. Unfortunately this made them fall short on both accounts. Fighting is much more fast paced and ridiculous. Fighting with a rogue means doing sort of ballet/Jackie Chan midair spins which reminds me of Bayonetta. I really didn’t like this system. What made DA:O so great for me was the level of realism it managed to maintain in a fantastical medieval setting. I just cannot have that in DA2 when my tank fight with a massive greatsword but does twirlies midfight and hits the enemy 3 times in 2 seconds, while wearing armour heavy enough to pin down a horse. Armour doesn’t slow your character down?

The interface looks a lot better than DA:O, however you cannot customize your party members as much as you’d like. It is truly ridiculous in my opinion that you can’t choose your party’s attire. It’s incredibly boring and numbing to see a member of your team dressed the same way for 38 hours.

The environment is once more superbly boring. There are basically 5 templates that just repeat and repeat and repeat. These 5 templates also actually look alike in a way as well. How can you expect a player to fully enjoy a long game (25 hours minimum) if every setting looks alike?

It also blatantly rides on inspiring characters from DA:O, and you really feel like these were forced into the latter stages of DA2 just to acknowledge the player who also played DA:O and to tell him that the story from DA:O will probably be continued in the next instalment. They try so hard to distance the game from Ferelden but at the same time they implement elements from that area.

The only way I could make myself enjoy this game was through the side quests. They are really much better than Origins side quests from a story and continuation POV, even though they seem rather irrelevant to the main plot.

All in all, when compared to other BioWare titles and specifically DA:O, DA2 simply doesn’t quite cut it. It’s shit, in that respect, and will most likely find its fandom to be much different than the one DA:O has. It just really feels like a completely different game, which is bad.

Although, look at DA2 as a standalone title without comparing it to other BioWare games and you will actually find it’s a pretty decent game. One which I will probably play again in the near future, but not before I replayed DA:O. Twice.

Ass-ass-ins creed 2. 8/10 - I found the 1st one super boring, I think i played it once, maybe twice, then gave up because i found it so kuk boring. I heard that the 2nd was better but could never bring myself to get it. A friend bought it for me as a late birthday present, i was skeptical at 1st, but found, like dead space, they had improved almost every aspect of the game-play in some basic yet important way. The History is fascinating, the story is good and its pretty cool how most of the game-mechanics tie-in with the story. If 1 left a bitter taste in your mouth and is the reason your not getting the 2nd, my only advice is give it try and you will be surprised how much better it is. Can't wait to play brotherhood. Its also pretty long, unlike many other games coming out lately which are averaging out at 5 hours.

Homefront SP: 78%
It felt a little bit lacking at first, but when it ended, it was a properly satesfying expereince. Gameplay could do with a hand full of tweaks, mainly adding a leaning function would make it play so much better in certain parts of the game and a wider veriety of weapons would be nice. But what makes this game great is a bunch of little things, one of the most promonet for me is how easy the ironsights are to use on most weapons, not making them criplingly miss shaped and constrictive in the views like most other games. The story is an odd mix of how you react to the characters. I felt myself more attachted to Goliath then I did to any of the humans, mainly because Goliath actualy helped, while the other three got me killed more than once...

Homefront MP: 85%

Pretty damned good! Takes a while to get used to after playing CoD all the time, but it gets really fun! Balance with vehicles and drones is pretty good, they're not over powered like in most other games and are easily taken out if you're smart about it. As with the SP, leaning would be useful and a wider variety of weapons would be nice too. Hit detection is amazing, if I miss, I miss, if I hit, I hit. I can see myself playing for (hopefully) a very long time.

Crysis 2 - 8/10 - Thoroughly enjoyable game. Graphics are superb. I found myself just wanting to get through it towards the end though as there is no incentive other than blood lust to keep killing. I just upped my stealth and went through the whole of central park at the end killing only about 3 or 4 aliens until the final battle.

Crysis 2 (Xbox 360) 9/10
At a first gander upon the game about a year ago I was pretty excited to see that the fight had been brought into the city as moved from the island in the first Crysis games which at the time were pretty good games. Now a year later I pick up this new Crysis title wondering what to expect from a new direction in the game and I was so impressed! The gameplay is a huge improvement from the first 2, graphics are visually entertaining and the story is simply amazing! I was so hooked on this game that I simply needed to know what was going to happen in the final mission, and I'll have to say all in all it was a fantastic game. A definite must-play!

Portal 2

Score: 20/10 :D

This game was just EPIC :D!!

I just finished Portal 2 10 minutes ago and I have no choice but to second that score. 20/10 from me as well. One of the best (if not the best) games I have played this year and a truly worthy sequel to the great Portal. A true masterpiece.

Dude how was that last mission ! It was more EPIC than the ending to ME2 :D!
Dude I never saw that last portal shot coming at all!

Yeah, the last level was fucking EPIC! I have never been a big fan of Valve (I have no love for HL or L4D), but this game has changed my perception of the company. I deeply respect them as game developers now and should their future games come to PS3 as well I will gladly add them to my collection.

Awesome to hear. The reason I think that Valve produce such great games is that the CEO (Forgot his name) had already made his fortune prior to creating Valve. He's in game development because he enjoys games, its a passion and that reflects in the games they push out :)!

Portal 2
9/10
Great writing, awesome gameplay and overall well paced game. Liked the added length although alot of the puzzles i found incredibly easy, to the point of simplicity almost. I think there where possibly two that had me scratching my head for more than 2 min or where i didn't immediately know what needed to be done. Portal remains one of the few games that you don't want too end. I also feel there isn't much replayability in it as once you beaten the puzzle its beat, but hey.

Mass Effect 2

Considering I despised the 1st game I thought ey maybe this one will turn out better. And a heck of a load better it turned out to be!
What a game wow whoever hasnt played it should really consider getting this... amazing! :)

9/10 for some random glitches :p
