Sony vs Geohot case closed

Something doesn't feel right.
How can this have been settled almost 2 weeks ago, with the media only catching wind of it now?

The preliminary deal was probably made on the 31st, and they probably only finalised it relatively recently.

They can boycott Sony as much as they like though, at the very least it doesn't affect everyone else. And my PSP is staying right where it is. I'm gonna get myself the new one too, when I can afford it :D

Same here! Sorry Geohotz I appreciate what you did, but I can't boycott Sony... I will have a PS4 too.

Hooray!

Geohotz has "maned up" abit here, his intentions were good but as we know we all do make mistakes...

Sadly the flood gates have opened but good on geohotz for stepping up and ending this, these things tend to drag on forever.

Now Sony must look to protect the PS3 in any way they can...

Not all that simple actually.
Sony had to choose which one of 2 cases they were going to push forward.
Class actions VS. Sony.
Or
GeoHot VS. Sony.

They chose to end GeoHot and fight the Class Action.

They couldn't win both, because their lawyers screwed up.

I just hope this sends out a VERY clear message to wannabe console hackers/cheaters/pirates out there.

They've already killed the PC gaming scene - leave consoles alone!

Neo you just missed the point of what was done and lost , cheater s and pirates are such s small part of what was enabled with root not everything is about the stupid pirates and haxers ....there are other implications for the technology

I would feel really stupid if I had donated money towards his south american holiday......ugm I mean, his legal fees

I thought in a previous article he wouldn't settle unless he got OtherOS back... Seems he couldn't handle the pressure from sony's lawyers... Anyway now Anonymous is on Sony's case, seems like one super bad year for them.

Does Anonymous not seem like a group of terrorists to you?

Fine the principle behind it is freedom to do this and that, but lets be honest 90% of the population will just use it to pirate games etc and not for homebrew and OtherOS...all it is is forcing Sony's hand and us console owners are taking all the flack.

Well - technically speaking they could be considered cyber-terrorists.

And like any group of terrorists they call themselves freedom-fighters :D

No, no, consoles killed the PC scene.

Also, everyone seems very quick to forget just how easy it is to crack the Xbox 360 , yet no on is crusading that... Unless I'm wrong?
