I am looking at upgrading to windows 7 retail, the thing is that it seems to be sold out on all major online retailers? Why is this, is it because of the imminent win 7 with sp1 that will be shipping soon?

I wonder what windows 8 is going to look like , we seem to be moving more and more into a 3d element here , transparency is just the beginning.

On this note , im supprized that windows xp is still holding as strong as it is ,
many companies will be using xp for years to come.

They currently have a special on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. However I can't really see anyone buying 32bit anymore.

Thanks for the link, although I should have mentioned that I'm looking for the 64bit professional or ultimate editions, the latter being completely sold out across the board.

If its the retail version hten both the 32-bit and 64-bit disc get included in the package its always been like that since vista was launched, if its oem then you can purchase the 32-bit version and copy the 64-bit disc from someone and your key will work for the 64... thats also new since vista.

I am pretty sure even though the SP1 stock will arrie soon that windows 7 is still freely available.

One would assume so but do a quick search for windows 7 ultimate retail on your online retailer of choice and you will be greeted with a "Out of Stock" message.

There's a Win 8 build floating around on torrentz... gonna check it out tomorrow *whistles*

I know the Win 7 Ultimate Retail is sold out across the country. I work for a retailer in PE, there was only OEM's available in 32 bit only. My client was looking for 64 bit :(

Do you know why their sold out (why there isnt any stock ?)

Win8 is pre-alpha... it is hardly any different from win7 atm and will probably just give you more instability than anything.

secondly, this isn't really game hardware related :\

3rdly you can try digital download (although i much prefer having a saleable disk)
