Guild Wars 2

I still don't know about GW2. I played the first one in beta, which was awesome, but I disliked the outcome of the game now years. I am definitely going to play SW:TOR, but not sure if I'm even going to try this. Might look at some vids today and see if they change my mind. Another thing, there aren't any talking rats in the game are there? Like in Aion..

Any suggestions for videos? I like heavy armour s/s tank classes :P

If you are talking about [dedicated] tank/DPS/heal classes, then you dont have alot of GW2 information to go on (if any) .... as shadowfox mentioned Anerfnet is attempting to change alot that is the usual MMO; like SW:TOR all classes can do all roles necessary in some way or another. I suggest reading some information in this thread (last 4~5 pages of this thread would be fine to find alot of links). GW2 is free to play after buying it...and not even close to instance-only like GW is; but saying you are definitely going to get SW:TOR, then I dont see why you cant try a F2P like GW2 for at least a bit. If you think its only GW redone with a new skin (because of lack of information), just go check out videos of battle with developer commentary. If after what you have seen / read does not intrigue you it is best to stay with paid MMO like SW:TOR etc. to milk your money :P (Difference for me between SW:TOR and GW2? paid subs vs no subs, it has similar concepts in some regards : Storyline / multi-purpose classes / voice dialog).

NOTE: When I get a chance, I will add some links here from previous pages again.

Speaking of subs vs no subs, I'm sure there's an "ingame shop" where you can buy items (with real money), that will make you superior?

Something has to be lacking compared to a sub mmorpg.

Nope. Items are basically limited to account services - extra storage, skins, mini pets and so forth. GW had skill unlock packs - which gave you access to all the skills that you could pick up in the game anyways with a little effort - but all this really did was give guys new to the game a chance to be on a more equal footing with those who had been playing the game for a while.

Personally, I never needed the unlock packs, although I did buy a few of the costumes and some extra character slots :)

That's the fun thing about Guild Wars, the only way in which you could get a edge on other players is by simply being awesome. No amount of Grenth Costumes is going to make a bad player a good player...

@Gimaru

Guild Wars 2 won't have items in the shop that give you any advantage. You won't be able to buy a weapon or armour set that will make you awesome.

Guild Wars has never been about giving anyone the advantage by getting better gear or items. Guild Wars revolves around skill and skills mostly. If you can use them you will win, if you can't you will lose. Everyone had the same gear and weapons with the same stats and you were capped at level 20. This made PvP more balanced and the game actually fun, since you could your max level cap easy and then focus on actually playing the game, instead of grinding forever.

Guild Wars did have grind, but far less than your normal pay to play MMORPG. Since every MMORPG has about 3000+ quests of which 2500+ are the same quest with a different name and item you need to get X of I cant see why I need to pay for content that is unimaginative and just copied and pasted from quest 1 to 2499 and then just edit the text and item a bit.

If I was a Duke Nukem or Diablo 3 fan I'd have that patience built in by now. Unfortunately I'm not - so I lack experience in the waiting-for-a-thing-for-goddamn-ages department.

Honestly, last year when they released the first skill vids of the Elementalist in March I was like: YES!! It's coming!!!

Now it's more like they release something and I say: Are we there yet?

Sou1Co11ector is the patient sort, now I understand why he tells me be patient for GW2... he is the hugest Duke Nukem fan ever.... :D

Anyway; Anerfnet are trying to build a huge following for the game, like Gimaru as example (soz lol :P) who didnt know what GW2 is trying to change; to get some of those type of people to follow the game development too. When launch comes, almost everyone that followed the progress (and most annoyed impatient people like us) will be playing GW2... its just the nature of gamers. 300000.E290 million people moan about how expensive COD is BUT they still buy it...

Blimey ... so we have folks from Andromeda Galaxy playing as well. Their lag must be epic insane :p

I'll just have you know, I'm saving up leave. I'm taking a month the day GW2 launches :D

I agree E290 (plus a million) is alot of zeros ROFL :D Maybe its the Andromeda galaxys fault that we get so many CODs ? Afterthought.... uhm no its just idiots soz!

Haha, told you ... all this ranting about its sooooooooooo far away (which it is) doesnt change a thing about what we think of the game when it launches; EVERYTHING changes :D

Absolutely agree with you.

But until that day, I think I'll just retain my aura of general pissed-offness. Because just waiting is boring :p
