Average age of MyGamers

I recall some random stat from a while back that the average age of gamers is around 30 (about my age - sigh)...

I'm not so sure about that stat though, because there seem to be a lot of kids on XBL and PSN. Maybe adult gamers tend more towards the single player games, or don't bother with the mic's.

Anyway, if anyone feels like sharing, I thought it might be interesting to find out what sort of age groups people in this forum fall in, and do you play online much, or rather stick to the campaigns.

While we're at it, are there many girl/women gamers around? I personally think we need more of them.

I'm 30, with my birthday coming up next month. So the average estimate is holding so far.

I would imaging that there are more adult types active on forums, but I thought it would be really interesting to actually find out, even though it's not really representative of gamers in general. And to get an idea of the sort of people we're chatting with and sharing views with, etc on MG.

So I'm either expecting people to come in around 25-35 (wild guess)... or say WTF, I'm not telling you, you nosey bugger

Male, 24 years old. Play online and LAN when I get the opportunity, play a lot of HoN/DotA where people rage a lot and found it isn't the 13 year olds that's the problem.

It's the 16 - 21 Age group, the time of girls, alcohol and know it all.

I also play only pc, console games to expensive. Also a good pc is worth more to me than a console, so just kinda makes sense, with studies and all that.

Eish, I'm the youngest one to report in so far. 18 years old, male, PC gamer. Primarily old-school RPG, FPS, RTS single-player games. Only multiplayer game I play is Counter-Strike: Source.

But as you said in the original post, this is no reflection on the true average age of gamers. Teenagers generally do not bother going onto forum discussions. Preteens are also too busy spamming over their mic's on multiplayer games, so they won't be involved in this thread either. There is too much of a discrepancy to take the average from those who post in here. But in my opinion, the true average will be around 27.

Perhaps MyGaming could run a poll on the front page to determine a more reliable average.
