Namco Bandai announced today that Dark Souls would get a collector's edition bundled with stuff, including a "limited edition art book containing premium illustrations of characters and environments from the game, a mini-strategy guidebook, behind-the-scenes videos from the development studio detailing various stages of game concept, design and building, and the game's soundtrack for digital download." It's the mini-strategy guidebook I'm most interested in, given Dark Souls' brand of challenge.

All those bonuses will be included with the standard edition of the game—priced at $59.99 USD—in a "custom-designed metal case." I'd anticipate limited quantities on the collector's edition.

Reps tell Kotaku that Namco Bandai will also be releasing tutorial videos for Dark Souls to help players better understand its unforgiving combat and unique rules. How they'll distribute those videos, we're not yet sure.

Dark Souls is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this October.

Looking good. Worth getting if you haven't played Demon Souls though?

Sure since it isn't a direct sequel but more of a spiritual successor. Devs are promising it will be even more challenging that Demon's Souls which is ALWAYS awesome news.

This is the latest trailer, I just love how it shows the player getting butchered, awesome motivation.

Heard a lot of great things about the first game. Since I only have an XBox, I'm definately getting this one.

Funny enough, I remember checking games out in BT once when someone purchased Demons Soul. The guy behind the counter had to give a formal warning that the game is difficult and they won't do any refunds :p

I can totally see them showing footage at E3 and saying: "This is a thousand ways you can die in Dark Souls in one area of the game :p

Have to agree with one of the comments on the article though. The guide book will probably just have the words "You're fucked" printed on each page XD

Which branch of BT? I got that warning when I purchased my copy

Was at the Cavendish branch. The guy at the counter said that they have to give out that warning to everyone, so I assume it is like that at all the BT branches country-wide.

Correct. There was a message that appeared in the point of sale program everytime someone bought it that said: "Game is extremely difficult, warn customer" or something like that.

Now I know the sequel will be just as difficult. Was the first game twitch finger difficult (ie. Ninja Gaiden type) or strategic difficult? Being an oldish gamer, my reflexes aren't that quick anymore. Nothing wrong with my brain though.

This is being pitched as being more difficult than Demon's Souls. It was unique in the sense that it was a bit of both, you needed strategy and decent reflexes to survive. Best thing is that player death was never cheap, you always knew what caused it.
