The Witcher 2 Chat Thread

Hmm, wonder if that might help me, though I wouldnt really say I'm having fps problems. I thought it was merely my rig not being good enough.

Eish that is making me scared! I can't wait till July to play!!

In a single sentence: Triple as good as the first.

I never enjoyed the first funnily enough, but good to hear. How does it feel? Are the controls smooth and responsive?

Fuck Yes :)

me loves witcher II

running on medium no issues yet. measly pc at moment: intel quad 2400mhz, 4 gig ram, 260 gtx BFG maxxcore.

Wow I'm already stuck. I keep dying from the dragon flames. I've died like seven times already. Not a good way to teach you the fighting mechanics when you're also being burned to a crisp... :(

The combat feels a lot different than the first game. You no longer have to click on enemies with a cursor, you just click like in games like gothic and two worlds. But that's not a bad thing, as you really have to know when to block or evade as well as when to strike. You'll get enemies that are really tough, then if you roll around them, you can hit them for really good damage from behind. If I had to, I'd say the combat kinda reminds me of Batman AA, in how you can chain certain attacks together. Also, spells are now a must. You can't really play well without them any longer.

The movement controls aren't bad, but combat often feels clunky, because sometimes you'll be looking at a character and geralt will attack in the opposite direction, stuff like that. Other than that, it's not unplayable and actually rather good.

What difficulty?

I was stuck there. I think it might have been a bug, as I'd just catch fire for no apparent reason, when all the others ran through unharmed. I did that mission first, however, so I just restarted the game and did the missions in order and didn't get the problem again.

Thanks for that mate :)! Really in-depth, I appreciate it!
As long as it isn't clunky to the point of your character being 3 moves behind your click like so many other games then I'm good :D!

lol, glad i'm not the only one! I died like 10 times trying to get past that. And at the end i still didn't quite know what the keys were to block or use my magic powers or how i was suppose to "Dodge" the fire. You can't see the dragon through all the flames and walls , and somehow you must run for it at specific moments while there's like 3-6 guards on you that you're suppose to learn your blocks/rolling on....

Just a hint for others: At the start when you're interrogated, just do the tutorial in sequence of the dialog options [from top to bottom] , and not like me who picked the dragon part first and was thrown into burning chaos without even knowing how to open my inventory.

I'm on normal, but difficulty doesn't matter . You're suppose to not get burned by the dragon, but the dragon is doing these fly-by continuous blowtorch thing all along your path, so if you catch fire at any time you die. So it's a bit of cheap death mechanic...not sure what the point is of doing that in a tutorial..

The trick with the fire is to stay behind your npc don't attack just hide behind the wall all the time. but if you can get in a hit or 2 do it since if you stay too long the thing burns up behind you.

you will probably be about 1/4 1/2 hp when your at the end.

anyone for some witcher chuck norris lessons ? lol i suppose i'll pick up the combat method as it goes along...

Hehe made it past eventually. The game finally hit its stride for me and then my PC crashed... Time to get back to it. :D

Just me or how do you get past the qte event at the barricade?? Must have been trying for an hour now.

temple grounds ?

walk to the otherside, fight stuff and come back where the body is just on left of the people "that's under their mercy".

...\.*./

walk from - to *, around to ^ following till you get to fight 3. there somewhere a cart gets pushed into your way. come back to - where people has been rounded up and past body, use "force push" and go through, and into well.

/hopes that makes sense if that is where you are at :D

Also please note do not skip chat screens before a time event. If you do skip it you will be faced with a screen with no hub and nothing working.

Its la valetta castle, its where he need to fire the balista. Were foltest is waiting above.

Hmm, I can't remember having a QTE there. I just fought the guards and then had to rapidly click lmb to adjust and fire the ballista.

Yeah there were no QTE's there except for the ballista rapid mouse click one. I finally got to the story proper and I must say WOW, this game is stunning. The addiction has begun. :D
