Hi there peoples!

I'm buying an i7 2600k CPU very soon and I need some suggestions on motherboards. What would be the best one to get? I'm looking for a proper mobo, probably in the range of about R2500 - R3000.

Also, I need to get some new RAM as well. Any suggestions?

PS. There's on more thing. Currently I have a Coolermaster V8 and as you guys know, there are different mounting brackets for Intel and AMD. I currently have an AMD so I need the Intel mounting brackets. Does anyone know where I can get this? Is it readily available separately?

Thanks!

Always and forever... Asus P8P67-DLX Mobo. Can get 1 for around R2400
As for Ram Depends on what you wanna do with it, Overclock or not?

Thanks dude. I don't think I'll be overclocking the RAM. I just need fast RAM. I believe the i7 chipset can go up to 2333Mhz RAM clockspeed? In general, just any good gaming RAM with low timings. Is that motherboard double or triple channel DDR3?

Nvm, I see it's dual channel.

Rambo!!

Go check the RAM discussion myself and Xero are having, you mind find the answers there!

as for the board, since your taking the i7 (which i might add is wonderful) i would suggest an intel board from what i have read and heard....

Its a brilliant board. I wouldn't swop it for anything.
Ram wise on the Intel® Core™ I7 2600 the maximum speed at which the memory can run at is 1333 without overclocking, also make sure that you get a P67 and not an H67 or you won't be able to clock the ram.

That'll set you back around R1300

Get the Asus Maximus iv extreme and Corsair Dominator GT. Both awesomeness! Then you can be just like me!

isn't the z68 board arriving in SA soon? I would recommend waiting for that...

Edit: nvm, see that they are already available.

/moves on.

Hey thanks dude. But I have to say, as much as I want to be like you, I'm not too keen on those ROG boards. Heard too many horror stories. :D I think I'll go for the other ASUS board Joker suggested. Definitely going for that RAM though!

Alright cool, thanks dude!

Shot guys, all I need to worry about now is getting that Intel backplate for the V8 Cooler. I know I should have it somewhere in it's box but I looked the other day and I couldn't find it. :/

Other than that, I think I'm set.

Eish bru! That sucks. I'm sure you'll be able to find all these things somewhere, it just depends on the competency of the people that you deal with.

You should have gotten a bag o' screws with the new Motherboard?
Token, the Asus Board performs well with the Corsair RAM if you buy them as a kit, not individually
Don't think you'll have too many issues

Jees man. What horror stories have you heard? I have had no problems with my board and it is very highly rated some reviews say that it is the best board you can get for the 1155 chipset.

About the V8 cooler. You just need to go to a shop that sells them and they need to order one for you. I know they can cause i thought that i would need a new bracket moving from the 1366 to the 1155 chipset.(turns out they use the same bracket but we found that out after the order was made.)

As for the Z68, the P67's are still the flagship 1155 boards.

Some okes just told me of their board failing and the had to return it etc. Anyhow, I'm still sticking with ASUS though, I'm going for that P8P67. Looks like very neat :)

Shot for the suggestions though Darth :)
