Does anyone remember that gaming = fun?

I know we all like to have our say on the latest gaming news and talk about what's happening with our most passionate pastime, but hell lately its just drama drama freakin' drama. If its not the PSN hacking and who gets what they deserve, hating and continuous attacks on a company that is highly illegal, its the latest games that absolutely sucked 'cause its a sequel or this one did that wrong and didn't listen to the gamers. Then you get the stupidity and overall shame to humanity that is online gaming, and all those complaints about cheating, trash talk and bloody camping. Then we fight amongst ourselves, this topic isn't appropriate to have in a game, you don't play on the same piece of plastic I play on, so you suck. They tried something new with a game, they failed.. dissapointment. Killing people is better in this game and killing people in the other one isn't as pleasing, just because they have different names. I'm sure you realize you're still killing people. Urgh its all so tiring.

Hell just open up solitaire and play a freakin' game 'cause it relaxes you.

By that reasoning I can just stop playing games all together and play naughts and crosses on a piece of paper... :/
 
Fun is objective. Some people enjoy hacking/cheating. Some people enjoy ripping on other games that weren't "fun", and some games are not fun because they don't offer what the respective player is looking for, or is just plain batshit. And yes, it's all up in the news because gaming has become incredibly mainstream the last couple of years.

TL;DR No single aspect of gaming/a game will ever appeal to everyone.
 
Well I'm quite drained from scanning these forums to find something worthwhile posting to. So many topics are serious, it sometimes seems that no-one actually has fun here :/

I'm not talking about playing games, I'm talking about forums.

And Chrome must've malfunctioned in the spell-check somehow, o rit too is trying to have some fun I guess, stirring things up a little, rebelling.
 
I agree...If I look at the majority of guys that i see "competitively gaming" they don't seem to have fun unless they're winning. Therefore in order to have fun more than 50% of the time you need to be better than average in the gaming world. So does that mean that 50% of competitive gamers are just not having fun? Wow, this was a weird late night ramble...

Anyhow, I haven't played starcraft 2 in so long because I just couldn't put in the time to compete in the leagues against guys practicing strats...thats why I stick to my RPGs. :-D
 
Well in the end yes our forums is full of serious posts where people discuss certain games, and sometimes you get the odd 'kid' with his 1337 talk and who think he's better then everyone else, but mostly that just ends up in everyone joking about him. In the end some people are seriously disappointed or loving a game due to two reasons (my two reasons)

1. The company's making these games to make money, to milk us and pump out more games.
2. The company takes true passion in their games and work on it longer then most companies to create something special.

To be honest those guys are idiots. Unless you are doing it to make money to put food in your mouth and someone has affected the fact that you cant eat this month, there is nothing to complain about that much. Sure you can bitch that Crysis 2's graphics are not an improvement and that Blops apparently (i put apparently cause i did not have any problems from launch day) had problems in the beginning but its no reason to cry or go postal on someone FFS. Sure you get mad when someone is hacking but just leave and join another server and report him. Sure you get mad if someone gets 3 headshots on you from that same camping spot but just go long way around own him with your knife. Point is that it is just a game and is supposed to be fun. Get over it!

Hmmm, not entirely true. I remember that killing people in Soldier of Fortune was way more fun than killing people in say... Quake. Maybe I'm just sadistic, but I played surgeon many a time with a shotgun and had me plenty of funnnnn.
