Lord of the Rings Online (EU) moving from Codemasters to Turbine

I see that there is some interest in LOTRO growing again. For those that do not know, on June 1st Turbine will be moving us EU players from Codemasters servers onto servers owned and mantained by Turbine. The data transfer from Codemasters to Turbine could take anywhere from a few hours to a day or more.

If you are keen on playing LOTRO, my suggestion is to hold off for a week. We will *not* need to download a new client, only a patch for our existing client. Moving to Turbine is going to be great since they offer better deals/functionality than Codemasters ever did. We will now have access to lotteries, better store specials and the myLotro site.

I actually have a US account and the latency was actually better than the EU servers o_O on my 4meg line I had latency of around ms

I've only had good service from Codemasters. I really cannot fault them. In regards to worse latency: as far as I am aware the servers will still be hosted in Europe so should not be a problem.

I finally updated my LOTRO client. Took me about the whole day to do. lol.

So I have a question..Is there any class that is a caster? Always loved playing my caster classes :)

Old school caster (think Gandalf, sword in one hand, staff in the other with a pet) - Loremaster
New school caster (think nuker/healer) - Runekeeper
Bard type caster - Minstrel (also the best healer)

Cool, thanks :) Might give LOTRO a go again since it's free

just remember LOTRO will be down from tomorrow till Friday approximately because the takeover from Codemasters to Turbine in the US happens tomorrow.

I think we can only migrate our accounts from tomorrow.

Btw, how do you become a VIP? What costs are involved etc?

To become a VIP you simply pay a monthly subscription fee ($15 I think).

You then do not need to purchase content like The Trollshaws, Evendim etc. You still need to buy the expansion packs though. Once you stop subscribing you then "lose" access to doing quests in those areas until you purchase them.

K, thanks. I see you get 500 points per month being a VIP. I would assume those roll over if u don't use them? That could be quite useful :)

Might consider doing that at some stage

Yes they do. You can also get turbine points by completing deeds.

Migrated my EU account to Turbine. Took about a whole day for the so called "small" patch. lol. Anyways, migration is not completely done yet, as my points have not been transferred. Also, my server, Snowbourne, and all the other ex codemasters servers are down atm.

They have a special on VIP subs. 8 pounds per month for a recurring VIP sub. 80 pounds for a year

The EU servers are back up. I just finished some questing in the Lonelands :) I'm also on Snowbourn, you can add me, my character name is Halafes :)

My points have been migrated but some of my kinship also don't have their points yet.

Cool! Will add u later :) Thinking of rolling a new character...Maybe a hunter. hehe

Well my main, Halafes, is a hunter :) I have a 38 Champion that I just couldn't care about. Will level him at some other stage
