Must have been quite a while back though (Or maybe recent) because I don't remember a screen like that where the GM replies. Whenever I had trouble they'd appear where I was and then PM me. Haven't played in a while though, maybe it changed.

Actually, that is the newer format for the non-interactive GM response.
Came with Cataclysm. They whisper you if they need to chat to you or explain or have something explained.
This newer interface is what they now use to send back generic "working as expected" or "we can't help you" messages.
