The New New New SPAM Thread

LOL

thanks for letting us know Xero

im betting u know a tiny bit more about BF3 than we do

im just wondering what the Server requirments will be to run a 64player game like this

IM guessing very powerful hardware and im assuming your going to be virtualising servers too?

The Frostbite engine has never supported VM Environments
We run them all on dedicated hardware, with the new titles this will remain unchanged

No, Frotbite it designed to work on Multi Core Machines but does require dedicated hardware
This is the same way in which we are currently hosting BC2
One game instance is assigned to one core of one CPU on the Machine (The Dev Guidelines allows for more than one instance per core but certain other ISP's run it this way and have had latency issues according to the public)

so lets say up to for different instances of the hosted BF3 can run on one machine

im just trying to understand that surely not one machine will only host one BF3 server, hence my thinking of VM

No that would be unfeasible
See it this way - 4 Instances per Quad Core CPU
4 Quad Core CPU's Per iGame Blade
16 Instances on one blade machine

makes sense

will the servers manage? not saying that they cant, but obviously the version you will receive for hosting the game will be far different to that of the client version

I am working on the Server specs given to me, I haven't looked at client requirements yet tbh
and lol, we are allocating new hardware for the title

Is there a link to the client requirements somewhere?

no client requirements are purley speculative

best best is that if you can run BFBC2 at highest, BF3 will most likely run well

im guessing that the requires specs will prob b slightly above BFBC2

but it has not been announced yet

I had that happen after a lightning strike once
Luckily replacement cards are easy to find

yeah. Mine just died. I think my router sent a surge and fried it. Maybe they where having a lovers tiff.

lol well I suppose it happens, mine took one of the ports on my router with it along with one channel of my onboard sound as well
Luckily though I could save the machine itself
