DotA 2 planned as free-to-play game

With Blizzard planning to release "DotA" for Starcraft 2 with the new expansion pack and League of Legends sporting 2 Blizzard employees who also originally worked on the DotA project (AFAIK), I'm not sure that DotA 2 would do all that well... LoL racked up almost 1 million unique views on the streams the past weekend at Dreamhack, breaching 210k simultaneous viewers today... with many Blizzard-like elements rolled into 1 package it would be interesting to see what they can bring to the party (so to speak)

But I fear it's too little too late and they'd have their work cut out for them to catch up with LoL's popularity and Blizzard's attempt at it for SC2

Dota 2. It will sell simply because the original was such a success... Lets just hope they not going to milk it like the CoD series.

Icefrog is not the original developer.

Pendragon (dude who is now at riot games doing LoL) is.

Icefrog just took over from pendragon after The Frozen Throne came out.

And they attempted to trademark it, dont think it was successful

These ouens going all over the place. If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure IceFrog also helped out S2 with HoN.

I predict DotA 2 will be a huge hit. I am currently playing League of Legends and hundreds if not thousands of players are unhappy with the European League of Legends servers and the attitude towards customers. (Players who bought Riot Points) If every DotA fanboy downloads or purchases the new game, that alone will be a huge figure.

We must just wait and see, Valve puts time and effort into their games, have they ever released junk? ;)

Well I think alot if not all DotA people will just jump to DotA 2 anyways.

I'm quite enjoying HoN(havent relly played DotA, tried once or trice but was a bit too confusing), havent had issues except for DDoS.
