better for gaming: 1333 or 1600 ram?

Friend and my brother have the Same setup. Same CPU, GPU, HDD etc.
He's just got Ram clocked at 1600 and bro has 1333.

Difference - Not even noticeable.

The better one would be the cheaper one, so can spend more money on other stuff.

No, what he said. The difference in performance, if any is so negligible that I would rather get the cheaper RAM and use that extra bit for a bigger CPU or Gfx card to be honest. Would make more sense.

well i'll be keeping my current 460's in sli :)

mobo's i'm looking at are based on the new 990fx chipset from amd which means either the new ud5 from gigabyte or the asus crosshair 5 formula.

both support 1600 natively, cpu wise i'm gonna get the 975 BE quad for the interim til the bulldozer chips launch

Not sure if this is a good way to compare them, but in my mind it seems to be apples with apples.

You will not see a difference, you will only really look at these frequencies when you want to overclock. :)

9 responses without anyone knowing what mobo/memory/cpu/prices we're talking about. Do you guys just guess or do you guys use tarot cards to come up with these answers?:wtf:

Tank asked a general question, and he got general answers.

FYI:

It's a 990FX board with a cpu and some memory.

The difference in price between DDR3-1600 and DDR3-1333 is so small, it's not even worth considering :p
