Dota 2 to be unveiled at Gamescom

Never heard of "Dota" before... I really appreciate you taking the time to write the article, but the "About Dota" didn't say much about what Dota 2 is :). Is it an MMORPG?? What is the story behind Dota??

It's basically a heavily team orientated game. It's two teams of 5 people. You get to choose a hero and you only play with that hero for the entire game. From level 1 - 25. Almost all the heroes have 4 abilities which you can level up with each level. Every ability has 3 levels and you can choose which ones to level up.

Each team starts in their base and there are 2 towers on each team's side, in each of the three paths (better known as lanes) nf the map which they have to defend as long as possible before the other team pushes all the way to their base to destroy their barracks, which spawns kind of "soldier" units that walk down the 3 paths on the map and then eventually the "heart" of your base for the win. You kill the creeps (soldier units) for gold to buy and build powerful items with recipes for your hero to become more powerful. It's a game of balance where when the one team becomes a bit more powerful, they will start pushing you back. It's quite intense. I've had some awesome Dota games in the past where we made some epic comebacks, but sometimes even crushing losses.

So that's Dota in a nutshell :D. There's a lot to learn though and it's much deeper than just the basics.

Games can be anywhere from 20 mins to 1h30m.

Here's the map you play on. You'll see the 3 paths on there. One top, middle and bottom.

I'll be taking a keen observation on the happenings of DoTA 2. I think it will be awesome! It's a pity that gamescom is in August and I'm going to Germany in December

my most fav game ever... was sitting with sniper, 35+ kills 2*divine raper (:P) but a noob team... lost horribly but still top scored XD

Hehe, those games can be fun sometimes, believe or not. You end up being the carry with monster kills but your team still loses. Afterwards you still feel good though and you had fun :P
