Lord of the Rings Online

It will be patched up to MoM. There will definately be more for you to download, but it won't be 20gigs. lol. Basically, it will download the 2nd expansion (Siege of Mirkwood), as well as some other content updates. You will have access to SoM quests and skirmishes if you are VIP or if you purchase it through the LOTRO Store using Turbine Points.

But ja, I started playing again after a hiatus of about 6-8 months and I think my update was 1-1.5gigs.

Sweet, thanks :)!

What are you guys currently doing in-game? I'm still a low level 9 so I'm chilling around the Shire doing small quests there:)

Doing the finishing things to my level 65 minstrel: virtues, book quests etc while running instances when I can. Also levelling a warden.

@Duke Dude: BE VERY CAREFUL! As far as I know ALL boxsets are now invalid because they will contain cd keys from when Codemasters was running the EU Lotro. Turbine has taken over and DOES NOT accept Codemasters keys. Just get the client from someone. If I had a DVD writer I would send it to you. Rather purchase directly from Turbine. Its a massive gamble purchasing box sets at the moment.

Eish, dude. Sorry about that! Completely forgot :( think was just too excited about getting someone else to play LOTRO. lol

Well, you can download the client directly from lotro.com or you can get the client from someone you know who plays.

No problem :)

The game itself is free so in effect you only need to purchase game content. As MissM said, you could subscribe to LOTRO for $15 to be considered a "VIP", then all the content excluding the expansion packs are available to you. You can purchase the Moria and Mirkwood expansions using Turbine Points which you earn through ingame deeds or you can purchase Turbine Points using your credit card or PayPal. Being a "VIP" subscriber also earns you 500points per month.

The only expansion you cannot buy with Turbine points yet is the upcoming expansion "Rise of Isengard".

I would suggest you download the client and create a Free To Play account and try it out first. You can play for quite a while before encountering anything where you would need to buy anything. Then I would suggest just paying the $15 a month to play and you'll have access to everything :)

Any other questions, please feel free to ask me. If you don't want to ask on the forums, send me a PM and I will help where I can :)

+Rep to you bro for the warning :)!!
So would I d/l the game off of the official site then?

anytime bud. Just seen so many cases on the forums where retailers are selling old stock and are completely ignorant that its useless and the consumer "pays the price" so to speak.

And why buy something when its free ;)

Got my first two Legendary Items today :) hunter's Bow and Axe. Bow is at level 10 and Axe at level 0 (just got it). loving this weapon system. :D

Just a few tips on the legendary leveling system:

1. Keep your dwarven tools and Kuzdul tablets
2. As soon as you can, get someone to port you to 21st hall (central hub for Moria), discover the stable master then Dolven View (closest class legendary traders).
3. get 3 other legendary items to level up as soon as you can from these traders, using your dwarven tools, later you will use the kuzdul tablets
4. Dont forget to reforge your items at level 10/20/30 etc.
5. As soon as the OTHER legendaries that you have hit level 11, deconstruct them for relics. You can also wait for 15 to get a good chance at a XP scroll for your items as well.
6. Deconstruct any legendary items you get not for your class, remember that you will have to have them identified at the forge master first.
7. As soon as you have deconstructed the extra legendary items, get new ones, slot them to level them again for deconstruction.
8. Relics will accumulate and you will use them later to make the relics you really want.
9. At level 30 you can deconstruct a legendary and choose a legacy to extract and keep to apply on another legendary item.
10. Keep in mind that a major legacy can only replace a major legacy, not a minor one.
11. Get your craft guild rep up so that you can create a 4th slot relic for your legendaries. You can also buy them from the AH for about 600s for minor ones.

Some general tips for Moria:

Identify the virtues you are working on, where they can be found and hit those places when you get to them.
Once in 21st hall, check out the Iron Garrison miners and guard vendors and see what class legendary skills you want and what the faction is needed for them.
IG faction is a pain in Moria, but if you do every quest, you should get quite a bit of it. A goat is great to have to ride around in.

Got a friend who can d/l all my stuff for me in one night (60+ gigs :D) next week Thursday!! So hopefully I will be joining you guys in Middle Earth sometime next weekend :D!!

Thanks for the tips Shrike! I got another two LI's that weren't for my class today, but I can't identify or deconstruct them as i don't have the Moria expansion.../sigh. Going to have to save up some TP for it first :(

Legendaries are orsm! Especially since you can name them!

I renamed my javelin to Beatrix and my spear to Steve. :p
