Abuse of The News Comments

Or disable the comments until the new comments system is implemented. Right now, they're not contributing anything (except for headaches for the admins, I'll assume) of worth to the site. It looks like 4chan in there.

The comments section allows people who may not be inclined to join the forum to interact with the site .The reality is that it promotes page views, clicks, and general activity, which is good for advertisers to see as they do not necessarily browse the forums.

I'm telling you all this in the interest of transparency. I understand you might not all like the comments section, but please take my word for it when I say that it is a vital part of the site's commercial viability at this stage.

That said, the front page has been redesigned and is busy being rebuilt. A new comment section will come into effect when the new site goes live, and it will require users to login, or post as "guest" in which case their comments will be moderated. This will solve the problems we have been experiencing.

Good news in general.
At least we know the problem isnt just being ignored.

We never ignore you guys :) We've been dying for a new comment system as well; it's just taken a bit of time to plan.

Thats good to hear. Maybe you guys should put up a artical of all the changes thats coming. Something like a sneak peak.

Still going on. I just saw a comment posted under my name. I posted once or twice under my name the last two days, but from now on, strictly anonymous from me. I'm not using my forum handle again, at all.

In an effort to prevent further confusion as to whether it is me posting I will from now on type my name backwards...

Don't stress Graal; soon this will all be a thing of the past :)

Nah, it's ok. I just want to clear any confusion that might be had, because the person posting under my nick is often a total douche. I'm a douche too, but I'm not that bad. :P
