Guild Wars still worth it after all this time?

Nightfall is based on Elona, a different continent, while EOTN is located in Tyria like Prophecies, but has totally new areas to explore than Prophecies, EOTN has alot of new content : dungeons, 10 new heroes and a new story that happens after the other three campaigns.

ok thanks for the info may try them eventually when I got the cash to purchase them.

You could just get all three original packs + EOTN. I've seen some trilogy packs in stores (With Prophecies, Factions, And Nightfall in one) for about R200. As someone who bought each as they came out, totally worth it, even if you just play by yourself.

I also recently started playing again. It's a lot of fun, even if you only have one or two friends to play with. I am not a huge MMO fan, but GW is amazing. Highly recommended. Of course there is the added incentive of titles etc moving over to GW2.

I loved Guildwars, and spent over 1000 hours on it. Stopped playing when I moved and lost my adsl about 2 and a half years ago. It just isn't the same over 3G. Would love to get back into it.

3G is not that bad for Guild Wars, 650-800ms is still playable; I get an average of 450ms ping with 3g and that is 100% fine, although I have to say I do miss my ADSL ~200ms ping, especially for PVP & rollerbeetle racing :p. But I dont do PVP that much anyway...

I must admit, I haven't explored a hell of a lot in GW yet. The maps are down right massive!

I have Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall & GWEN. Factions & Gwen I bought online, but the best thing I ever purchased from the in-game store was the fire imp! ^_^

Yeah the Fire imp is EPIC!

The cool thing is if you bought the complete pack, you got the imp for FREE.

ProTip: When in a town or outpost type /bonus and hit enter.

You will be given bonues items like a hammer, a bow, a shield, a focus a staff and of course, the Fire Imp.

You can only use the Imp until level 20, but DAMN it helps a lot with farming, especially in Prophecies where there aren't any heroes.

Hmm I got imp for free with just factions and prophecies which I got 4 -5 years ago on my lvl 13 hunter. None of my other characters got one though.

Edit: oh ok thats what /bonus is for

What I miss the most about GW is the lvl 10 PVP arena's. Buffing yourself up unfairly with max armor and weapons, and getting the extra 15 attribute points to give you that edge, then taking on entire teams by yourself ;-) Then suddenly everyone stopped playing in the arena's. I wonder why..... ;-)

It was cool to buy Prophecies in the beginning, when it was all new, and play that, giving you time to explore the already massive game. But only getting into GW now, after all the added games/expansions/updates etc, you will never get through it all.

You can still complete the campaign storylines fairly easily; they do not take alot of time (IF you only concentrate on them)... unlike me when I started I just ran around pre- and then post Ascalon; took me 3 months to get to LA lol. I didnt have a guild, so it was rather tough going through the Shiverpeaks.

It took me almost a year and a half to start playing the other campaigns.

Mainly because I have A.D.D. in games and get distra... OOOH A BUNNY!

Uhm, where was I, but it took me less than a month to get the other campaigns done with their bonuses. So taking a month to complete the whole of Guild Wars is possible, but don't get distracted! Then there is end-game content too and Hard Mode to challenge the more adventurous.

There is a lot of content and you can loose yourself easily in the fun of exploring and finding those cute white bunnies of DOOM!

I don't really play Guild Wars too much any more...not because I dont want to, but because I dont have ADSL any more, and cant stomach playing over 3G. However, when I do login after all this time, it's nice to see every single one of my characters with some new presents :-p

I got the Guild wars trilogy as a gift a month ago.
I finally got around to installing it, and updating it.
How do the servers work? I noticed i didnt pick a server to play on, i just created a toon.
How do you find friends in game if you dont know what server your on?

Myself and the better half used to jam GW on 3G just fine. When I 1st started playing, I played Prophecies on 56k dialup. And yes, it worked fine. (for the most part)

You dont select a server because most areas are instanced, when you arrive at an outpost, on the top left hand side there is a list of current districts in whichever zone you are (EU / America / int). You can select any of those, or pressing M will give you a menu where you can change which zone you currently want to play at. So, if your friends want to know where you are then just check left top for current district & instance no. ex : EU Lion's Arch District 3

American districts are the best for trading, EU and others its useless... its as if the US districts have been adopted as the marketplace... wasnt always like this. For trading, try Kamadan (in Nightfall) or (LA) Lion's Arch (Tyria) districts, Great Temple of Balthazar.... then to a lesser degree Ascalon (Tyria) and Kaineng City (Cantha), any other places are really not worth trying to sell.

Finding friends in game you can do by pressing 'N'

Enter your buddy's IGN (in-game name) and organize some questing with them.

You can add me as I will be online tonight trying out some Cathan content with ChameleonDevil.

My IGN: Arina Methos

Although the dc's were pretty epic.

I lost so many survivor chars in Kilroy's because of 3G related dc's.
