Duke Nukem Forever review (PC) - MyGaming

Look guys. Duke nukem forever may not be Crysis 2 or whatever but it was fun (if you played it to the end). the 3D realms guys tried to resurrect the DUKE, didn’t go to well with the masses, cried a bit and moved on.

Play it for what it is, an action shooter, or move on to another game its that simple!

Sometimes some games should just be left to die a cold lonely death in the memories of those that frollicked about in the pixellated world of over the top cheesy lines and action. Though instead of just slapping on a new coat of paint and some shiny-ish pixels they could have expanded a bit more (and have done this poor nostalgic gem a bit more justice.) I mean look at the Monkey Island remakes, they came out very well or am I p****ing against a hurricane here?

I think I'll wait until it's at the bottom of the bargain bin and I've played all the thoer games I own before I bother picking DNF.

I read somewhere that some guys are developing an updated Duke3D on the U3 engine- either a mod team or propoer studio. Can't find the screens/link now but it looked promising. Anybody here also read about it?

Played it and finished it. I suppose the game had all the elements of the original, but the big difference, back then the jetpack, holoduke and I suppose the big one, the ability to jump (instead of running flat on the ground like Doom2 and other games at that time), was all "groundbreaking" stuff and it was fun... Probably because we didn't really have any better until the release of Quake / Unreal.
Well, this was my experience anyway.
