Age of empires online is a great game.

I downloaded it last night. The patch took forever to download. By the time it completed, it was bedtime. Looked for it now and I can't find it :confused:
 
LOL I also count find it.... but windows 7 is just so awesome that I went to start-> typed in aoe(or age, pfft whatever same thing) and voila!

It's not really free to play. Sure, you can play for free and do all the basics. But I read that to really get into it you will have to spend some money, especially for the better updates in the tech tree.
 
Yeah.. I basically played until my inventory filled up with rare and epic items and called it a day... i refuse to sell lol

If its worth it, I wouldn't spending some bucks for some other items. I only started playing last night. Will see how it goes for me.
 
I'm liking it so much, that I bought the Launch Special, which is both the civilizations, then they throw in Defense of Crete for free. It feels a lot like the first two games, just more cartoony and funny. Had to buy MS points to buy it in the end, but it's still ended up for the best.
 
I want to buy one civilization so long, but i got to much special items that cant be used and the game is getting limited now...
 
I like the fact that it synchronizes with my Xbox Live account. The game + achievements appear on my Live Profile.

Ja It's a great game, I just wished the premium content wasn't so expensive otherwise I would have bought it straight away. All the gear, units, buildings, etc. it adds would really make the game awsum. But I dont have that kind of money, but me and Staple still enjoying some co op missions :D
 
If you're planning on playing anything longer than past level 20, it's not worth it if you don't buy premium. You'll always be at a disadvantage in PvP. It's also not that expensive, considering a single civ is like R150, and games generally cost around R400 nowadays.

The way civ work is that they can be compared to being characters in WoW. Imagine getting WoW for free, but then just paying R150 for a character. Except the characters are more or less balanced in a way that they're all almost the same.

So do you pay per civ and get it fully unlocked on a premium package?
