I was wondering if somebody can explain to me how somebody with 18 posts instead of the required 20 can win the competition? It states clearly in the first post that anybody that enters the comp needs a minimum of 20 posts and further in the thread it's stated that spamming will not be tolerated. Not only does the winner not have the required amount of posts but the majority of his posts are in a thread made specifically for spamming. Now I don't hold anything against the winner but these competitions have rules and in this case somebody did NOT do their job and does not come across as professional in any sense of the word.

Please can I befriend one of the people in charge of the comps so I can win something without having to meet all the requirements or follow the rules?

Regards
Lomek

Hi Lomek

Faffa won because he is a regular and active forum member to the site and has contributed quite a bit. We don't only look at the post count of the users, but also the activity of how much they spend on the site. We do try to keep up to date with checking post counts but it's not easy when we are regular folks with regular jobs, and with a few of us running the comps it's our contribution in helping out Tinman and his team to keep the site flowing efficiently. :)

I hope that answers your question.

For interest sake how do I become recognised as a regular and active forum member? or am I already one

lol... dont know why any1 apart from friendies even want to enter then... i wanna be your buddeh!!!! no jokes wtf ever seriously sad and typical south african... anc supporters of note

psych i really dont get why they post rules and then have many other factors influencing the comps thats bs sersiously,,,,, please any admin remove my account from this site i dont want my name to be a part of anything this pathetic

Maybe you should quit being a douche bag.

I know the other members will have something to say i'll leave this to them.

Well every site has the same problem so its normal, even Mybroadband does the same sometimes.

Having won twice before I don't worry about the rules etc.

Maybe you should quit being a douche bag.
Maybe you should quit giving people who raise legitimate points so much flak.

Expecting Mygaming staff to following the rules they set isn't exactly setting the bar unreasonably high...

Nonetheless, too late to do something about it now.

Perhaps. But legitimate point or not, there's no reason to be a douche bag about it, now is there? Not exactly polite, now is he?

Havok, the rules weren't clear. It does seem that there was some interpretation. For example did you have to have posted more than 20 times over any period of time or 20 times between the start of the comp and 19 Aug. It seems that the at least 20 posts over any time was applied.

The concerns may be legitimate, but the way he puts them could be better.

and all you have to do to stand a chance to win this Apple Tablet PC is to make at least 20 posts in the MyGaming forums (hence right here) before Friday 19 August.

....... not the best delivery but legitimate points for sure. Next thing you know it's out there that one shouldn't enter the comps/join the site coz it's an old boys club when it comes to rules and/or competitions.

While i do agree that a legitimate point has been raised, i do recall 'Rain Moodly' winning the Exclus1ves weekly comp sometime back with having hardly any posts in the forums

Apologies if you dislike my response. But what i'm trying to say is that Sycogrim gave a clear and polite response. For Lomek to respond like that is completely out of line.

I am disappointed by this. I also dislike the excuse of him being an 'active' forumite. This is quite a subjective measure and is not very indicative of the quality of input.

In your case it would have been useful if you had posted in the competition thread which would have entered you into the competition.

Rain Moodly won the comp on the same week he joined the forums. This may seem unfair to those of us who have been around on the forums for a while, but through the course of monitoring the competition I've seen it happen a few times - people with a less than 3 digit post count or some who have only been members for one or two months (or less) winning the comp.

However, he did have enough posts to qualify for the competition - hence I qualified him.

I'll agree that the rules for the iPad2 comp weren't very clear at all - I personally also felt they could've been stated more clearly - but the comp is over and done with now, and whining about the result isn't going to change anything.

For those of you wondering - I'm a little less flexible than Syco regarding the Exclus1ves entries - I go by strict interpretation of the rules as they are stated - and I repeat them each time I post an updated list. Of course, folks who have questions are always welcome to leave messages on my profile or to PM me; I'm more than happy to address any concerns/questions you may have.

WAIT...WHAT!!! I call BS

I'm a little disappointed by the interpretation and broad application of the rules. My understanding and I'm guessing it's the same as the majority was that you had to post 20 times from the date the competition was announced (1st post in the comp thread).

If the winner has not posted the required number of posts they should not win and a new winner should be drawn or the comp scrapped and redone.

Saying that even though the winner has not made the correct number of posts they can still win because they are "active" members is a poor excuse. Just admit that a mistake was made and move on with the re-award.

Wait...isn't Faffa the user with the pedobear as his/her avatar and again in the sig? Let me check.... ahh it is the pedobear.

I would have banned this user from the forums just for that, not given them an iPad. I say "given" because as far as I am concerned that is exactly what happened.

Now on the whole I like this forum but after what has happened... I'm going to have to think about staying.

I agree with most said about the rules. What I thought with the 20 posts requirement is that it is from the date and time the competition is posted and not overall posts from the joining time.
