Hmmmm ... well ... basically, when I was hired here, certain understandings were reached. Basically, they knew when they hired me it was going to more or less temporarily (over an extended period of course), and that my future plans didn't include the company.

In any case, I just got the whole speech about how they see me as a bigger part of the company's direction and how they're going to get me more involved in driving our strategy (not that I'm entirely sure what it is) etc etc. I'm like ... did you guys forget my final plan was to GTFO? That hasn't changed.

looooooooooooooooooooooool So is your boss still saying that you mustn't leave?? :p

Syco, I can only assume it was you trying to call me?

Nope it wasn't me this time sonny jim :p

Sounds hectic shadowfox, obviously they consider you a valuable resource and regardless of what you originally intended, they want to get you on as permanent instead of contract, and by the sounds of things get you into management.

It could be a good opportunity for you if they make it worth your while, but I guess you'll have to decide whether it's worth revising your personal plans or not. Life tends to throw these things at you, nothing ever really turns out as you planned.

If you don't want to take the offer, tell them that, and I'm sure since they obviously value you, you'll be able to stay on in whatever capacity you choose until you're ready to leave.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

What happened with unisa, I'm also currently doing my degree through them.

I'm in charge of social media management, online advertising, seo and the like for our clients. And before you ask - I fucking hate my job - I'm basically just doing it because it pays the bills.

Regarding UNISA - massively long story - but in summary, last year, they never processed my registration, so I got 3 of my originally planned 10 subjects out the way - delaying my by a year. This year, I was never placed at a school for my practical component, delaying me by yet another year. Doing B.Ed btw.

I'm stuck with them because I have no other options at the moment.

I think they're looking to tie me down. I'm quite sure the discussions will involve a salary-offer/increase that most folk would be hard pressed to turn down.

Funny thing is - that sort of thing doesn't really work on me.

I'm permanent anyways :p

Thing is, as I indicated to Fabio above, my current job isn't the sort of thing that will keep me going until retirement - if I keep doing it for much longer I risk either snapping or driving my health down the drain.

And staying wouldn't so much involve revising my plans as much as completely scrapping them and starting over. I happen to be working towards a goal, and I'll be damned if I drop that.

Well, if you hate the job, and extra cash won't tip the vote for you, probably best to ditch them as soon as you can. Nothing worse than being stuck in a lousy job.

I agree with Matt! Surely you can find something else that you enjoy and will allow you to pay the bills?

Damn, that sucks big time, I hate when an institution screw up, and just says sorry and carries on as if nothing ever happened!

Similar thing happened to me for 2nd semester registration last year. I registered on opening day of registration and got a printed version of them receiving my application...but by the final day of registration, I received no feedback from them. I drove through to the Sunnyside Campus and stood in a massive queue for two hours (because of all the other people who wanted to register)...when I eventually got to the front, a lady informed me that they have received nothing from me regarding registration...Good thing I was there that day, because I registered manually and got the job done...if I hadn't, I would've been delayed with a semester.

Haha lol!

It's bad hey, I just try not to look at the "thing"

Try these avatars from one of the other forums I'm on (those guys may well be here too). Very disturbing
