Age of Empires: Online

Hmm only played the beginning bit - art style and online nature remind me of Battleforge. I think it might have been worth the download just to mess around (I've got uncapped so bandwidth isn't as precious). Looks like you can play the missions co-op so that could be fun. It seems limited at the moment with only 2 races to play (even if you pay for stuff) but we'll see how it develops.

Well Persian and Celtic races will be coming soon. Apparently "Available this holiday" whatever that means in American(Chriza maybe?).

I played the Beta and liked it alot, i downloaded this on the 16 when it came out, admittedly i dont play as much as i use to when the beta was out, but i still love the game. As i progress i will see if its worth it to get the premium content but for now the aready available content is just fine... I think i just missed Age of Empires to much, just like i miss Warcraft. I am aware of WOW but i am not going to get sucked into that money pit any time soon.

This keeps getting better. Sure, if you get premium it will probably be a lot better, and sure, premium is waaay overpriced. But regardless of that, you have so much fun content already. I can only imagine that it will take like 30 hours to get to level 40 with one civilization and all it's quests. Then there's the next civilization, with very different game-play. Oh, and as someone just mentioned, there are two more civilizations coming out soon. One thing that pissed me off today was that you can't 1v1 against a friend if you don't have premium. I mean, both can join the matchmaking queue and hope to be matched against each other, but there is no guarantee unless you buy premium. But co-op quests are tremendously enjoyable, and I'm just hoping it gets more challenging soon.

i might join u guys next month.. getting my uncapped... CYBER FIVE! hell yeah... so i at least have something to look forward to... :)

I've been wanting to give online strats a go sometime, will this be a good game to try out? It sounds like there's SP and then can you also play a game against a random human opponent online?

I've been playing it on and off lately. I really enjoy it, it's a great strategy game, and I really want to invest the time to play it, but I don't really have the time. Every quest takes really long to complete, perhaps between an hour and two hours, and I can't always invest that in the game.

Im on level 37 and most i've spent on a single quest was an hour, most times its around 30-40 minutes.

Anyway the PvP system is messed up, i've only been able to find a game once.

Theres a new skirmish hall coming soon which will allow u to create a custom game with ai and other players, that should be interesting, however i need more active players as friends :P

I'll post my name here so you can add me, I just can't remember it right now. I'm going to try and be online a bit more next week.

The original AoE was one of the first games I played on a Windows PC. Was incredible! One of my favourite games to date (The whole series really). So I think after my exams I'll definitely be giving the game a DL! Hopefully that skirmish hall will improve the community a bit and get some more pvp going :D Let us know!

Its amazing how after all these years game prices have remained more or less the same. Havent game developers heard of inflation? Clearly not :D

True, prices of PC games did go up a while back to over R500 but it's down to around R300 - R400, prolly to try to combat piracy or poor sales compared to consoles.

Some of these new console games prices are ridiculous.

Can't get this game to run no matter what i try including resolution, admin rights, compatibility in vista, xp and 98. I've also downloaded it a 2nd time now.

What happens is i click play, the logo comes up screen turns black and it crashes to desktop but its still running! i click on the aoe tab on the taskkbar goes black and crashes to desktop!

my specs are more than enough, with a quad cpu, 8gb ram and a 5850.

I've hit a brick wall, if anyone can advise id really appreciate it as imp a big aoe fan.

Thanks
