You have to create a battle.net account, opt-in for diablo universe betas and then run the system specs utility that they link on the site. From there it's pretty random who they choose for the beta. They say it will be a variety of systems specs so as to make sure it runs on most systems.
 
If you have a less powerful PC, I recommend running the system scan on that machine because Blizzard wants make sure D3 will run on as wide a variety of low end systems as possible to ensure game stability... I don't anticipate getting a key because my machine is considered mid-range. The mid-range is probably the most saturated market tier. That said, if you are running dual GTX 580s, with a hexacore, your chances are also upped than if you were running the mid-range.

It will most likely be this year.....the open beta tests are launching soon so it won't be any longer

I think the beta will last longer then 3 months, errors then need to be fixed before it goes gold. Then production and then exporting. I am expecting a single release date worldwide which will mean that it will probably not make it in 2011

The game requirements are very basic so I am sure the pc you have would work. I have read that the game is using the same graphic engine as starcraft 2 so the requirements will be very similar to that
 
Lol I forsee a Duke Nukem being pulled... But I doubt they would do a release this year. If they didn't announce an OFFICIAL date as of yet they will probably carry over the hype till next year. Unless of course they're waiting for everyone to be broke and release the game in late November, early December (well I'll be broke cos of revelations and BF3 :-P). But def I forsee a mid year or end of 2012 release
 
No there is no chance in hell this will be another DNF.
Purely because Blizzard is that good, their games are always well polished at launch.
I didnt even play SC1, but i've been playing SCII for a year straight and it doesn't get boring, they know what they're doing.
I know for a fact the beta is coming this month, major fansites, podacasters, etc. have already gotten their beta invites.

Lol I know it isn't gonna be a full Dike but it's following a similar pattern in terms of launch times since it took forever for the remake to be done as well as the fact that the release date was such a well kept secret for quite some time. I must however bow down to blizzard since they haven't created any seriously disappointing titles as of yet. Seriously can't wait to get to play Diablo III
 
Yeah have some faith people.. its blizz we talking about :D The only thing that pissed me off was the whole online only kinda style. i miss lanning where u dont need the internet.

Comparing sc2 with Diablo3 is probably not the best idea, but in answering id say it'll probably be as good if not better, I myself Love sc2, but I really really can not wait for Diablo 3, its driving me crazy!!!!!! Diablo 3 is really going to be special and a game for the ages !!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes:
 
Hehe, the best thing to do is try forget about it. It'll come out when it's ready. But it WILL be amazing. personally I like all the new touches, that different classes have different "mana" types etc. The characters look epic. Can't wait to play Witchdoctor and then monk! :-D
 
P.S. Torchlight II is also looking really good. With co-op LAN play I think it will be a great game to bide the time for Diablo. And only $20. Should be out in the next month or 2.

Any news on a release date yet? The last time I heard anything it was "sometime 2011". It does look epic though and should keep the action-rpg cravings in check for quite a while, especially with the mod community.
