A modern LAN gamer's checklist

My checklist :
  • Spare clothes
  • Toothbrush
  • Something to nibble
  • Computer and a multiplug
  • Mattress and sleeping bag
  • Darth Vader Bobblehead!
Maybe make a list of things you should do before you go to a lan. Many gamers pitch up at Organised Chaos without preparing. Then they realise that they need patches and drivers to play. :rolleyes:

Something James forgot..

Deo's!.

2 days of lanning gets you stinky.

Something that I've started doing is organizing my diet while gaming more. Over the past couple of months I've transitioned to a much healthier lifestyle and it's made me rethink my past LAN weekend survival kit for times like OC LANs.

An interesting thing, is that I actually have a lot more energy and can concentrate better when I substitute the energy drinks and bags of chips for a more solid healthy set of meals every 2-3 hours rather than just munching on stuff the whole duration.

I know a lot of science actually does back all this up (and a lot of the pro wow players like Paragon and Ensidia members actually focus a lot on this in order to do their 3-4 day raiding sessions to push for world firsts), but it's interesting actually experiencing it first hand.

Interesting, would you mind giving a few examples of healthy meals that you eat as an alternative to fatty 'lan' food?

Lol true. You do need something healthy inbetween otherwise you'll crash faster than a Zonda that lost traction in a corner whilst accelerating. But then again power napping for about 15 mins every hour and a half tends to help as well, hence why a comfy pillow is always on my list. Also tagging along some wipes along is also handy since your keyboard my become sticky due to unforseen spillages. I mean who likes playing on a sticky keyboard? :p

Good thing it's over the internet or you might be smelt seeing you don't bath or brush your teeth

:O!

OK, time to revise that checklist!

Here's my checklist:

* Bath - check
* Brush teeth - check
* Eat - check
* All the other normal stuff (Breathe etc) - check
* Internet connection- check
* <STRIKE>LAN</STRIKE>

xD!

Mines normally this...

1.Pc + parts
2. Phone organizer to accomodate for a 46" LED Tv (shud hear reactions lol)
3. Toothbrush + Toothpaste + Deos
4. 2 Pairs of slops (Shoes just get stinky with socks BUT if u go out the friday or sat nat + socks and shoes)
5. Windows CD + Drivers (incase hd goes poof)
6. External HD so that you can go around to your friends
7. Extra dosh for food etc
8. Pillow and airbed
9. Booze :D

My bigger concern about the LAN checklist these days are the games.
We use to have huge Unreal Tournament LANs, Dota LANs, COD MW LANs, but very few of the new games support LAN play. If you are all just gonna clog up the same internet line its much easier and cheaper to just game from home.

Not enough games still have the LAN option. Its frustrating and it is killing my LAN hobby.
