Ja dude, there was some BS comment using your name again -_-. Pathetic stuff man, you should have seen it.
Nah, I saw it. Just wondered why I couldn't see it again later.

I posted on the Rage tech specs article something along the lines of "fan girl made a funny. Hope she at-least wrote the article from the kitchen". So there I've claimed it now could you be so kind as to unban my IP? its to much trouble to restart my router or dial a PPOE connection. ThanksRegarding the comment troll spam.
We want to foster a community that shows basic respect towards each other.
While free speech is everyone's right, that does not equate to a right to spew misogynistic bullshit (or racial and defamatory bullshit for that matter) on the front page of MyGaming, just because one can, and one thinks it's a funny joke to do so.
This website draws in many readers and potential community members and imagine arriving to find 4chan-style idiotic troll filth spread around the comments section - it doesn't look good, and there are people who will find it insulting; rightly so.
If the person saying such things actually had the fortitude to attach their real name to the comment and stand by it, then I'd welcome it. As it stands they can hide behind a veil of anonymity. Of course, we are just dealing with trolls doing it for the lulz - to bait a response from people who don't know better than to not respond in kind - so it will be removed.
As the regulars may know, the MyGaming forum also supports the tenets of free speech, and in this community environment when a registered name and established forum persona comes to mean something, and in which real-life friendship are often made, the community quickly self-regulates anyone who thinks they can come in and post garbage.
The fabled 'login to comment' system is coming - heheh - I know I've said that a lot, but trust me, it is. We have just had to deal with the developers being on holiday, but they are back and knuckling down to get it done. We will launch it when everything is guaranteed to run smoothly.
At this stage I can't give an ETA, but it should fall within the vague boundaries of 'soon'.![]()

People just WANT to be offended.
Maybe they're bored... maybe they're trying to seek some attention.
Whatever, they're still all shit. They really do need to grow up.
I sense much underwear in a knot over something so trivial ......... And seeing as it stemmed from an incident where someone looked under the hood of a game just to find something offensive, just makes it more trivial. Yes one should not be blatant with racism, sexism, blah blah blah but everyone is guilty of it some time against some one and to get so uptight while shouting from the rooftops "we have freedom of speech/expression here" makes it all the more silly.
I have a friend who is a girl, she calls me a man whore when I comment on a hot girl - should I get upset at her for being so insensitive? I don't think so because to do so would be damn ridiculous. Likewise a gaming site should not come across as being so third reichy.
P.S - I didn't see the comments and I despise anything really shitty towards other people and if there was hardcore stuff, take action, but if the above commenters comment which led to a ban is the extent of it, then lighten the hell up, seriously.
Did you mean 'people want to be offensive' ?
Tarryn asked me personally to remove it because she was offended. She takes a load of abuse from these trolls all the time, specifically targeting the fact that she is female.
I don't think this should be tolerated in the name of "lightening up."
By way of experiment, approach a male stranger and call them a 'man whore' - I'm sure the reaction will be quite different to a jibe shared among friends.
The comments I didn't see or the comment in question ("fan girl made a funny. Hope she at-least wrote the article from the kitchen") was asked to be removed? I used to write mocking stuff years and years ago as Tarryn does and once you do that publicly you open yourself to all types of abuse. A flippant kitchen comment is helluva far from being anything to get into a knot about. If you can't take lame comments like that, getting out the public eye would probably be a good idea.
I agree with Hraffnir's post, very well put.
<snip>
Anyway, we will have a login to comment system in place sooner rather than later, and then it will become much more tiresome for the trolls.
TL;DR - We don't take kindly to trolls on MyGaming.
F$*@# yeah. That's what I've been asking for, for months now.
Honestly, if she really feels that way, then by all means, disable the comments section. Temporary solution till the login system is set for comments.
The up/down vote system could be modified so that if it has been downvoted enough times, you'll have to click to display the message. Or even a "flag" system for shitty misogynist/racist/outright insulting comments.
Other than that, laugh (for whatever reason) and move on is what I say. x_x
