NAG magazine

I bought my first ever NAG mag yesterday and I was well impressed with it :)

There was plenty info and review to keep my busy for hours. what are you thoughts on the mag, and do you buy any other gaming mags.

I buy NAG mostly for the Disc with all the videos and demos on. The mag is so-so. By the time I get it, I've already read reviews for the games on the internet.

I am not spurring on global warming. I just use the Internet. NAG is cool in looks and all, but at the end of the day the Internet will give you a lot more info on whatever you wanted, and with uncapped and cap getting cheaper even the demos are not worth it anymore for me.

I Buy NAG and PC Format just to read about stuff I do not know or thought about.

What gets to me is that the magazines are way behind the times when it comes to reviews, news etc. but that can be expected as the internet is a quick way to update and share news on.

The mags are ok but feel they can always do better. then again I'm VERY picky :P

I used to buy NAG for about 2 years, it was worth it then because I didn't have DSL but once I got uncapped, everything thing the mag offered I could get off the net whenever I wanted.

I used to buy the NAG and PC Format magazines religiously every month. After a while I saw some terrible biased reviews coming from the NAG hardware editor and I refused to spend money on something like that. The fact that the magazine's physical quality also took a giant knock just enforced my decision. The NAG magazine literally fell apart in your hands the same day you bought it, and when compared to the quality of the PC Format (both physical quality and journalism) it just seemed clear to me that I wasn't getting my money's worth with the NAG anymore.

But, like all good stories (cool story bro) this one DID have a happy outcome - I started buying the Popular Mechanics magazine again and I haven't looked back since :) PM is a must-buy for anyone interested in technology and general "clued-upp-ness", well, that's my opinion at least.

I agree, I also bought the each month for a few years. But then the magazine starting boring me and I found more information on the Web before the Magazine was released. Not their fault but... but hey Internet is much quicker and updated than ANY magazine could ever be.

Haven't bought it in ages. I'm poor and I just couldn't justify buying something filled with info I already knew about. The fact that they decreased the word count for the opinion columns also reinforced this decision. Maybe if the opinion columns were still each on their own page, I might have changed my mind, but really the only draw after that downsizing was Azi's page at the back of the mag.

Also, the fact that their reviews and previews were often late didn't do wonders for me either. I can understand that deadlines make things difficult, but if you preview a game, and the mag only releases a week after said game is released, that doesn't cut it for me. Don't do anything on it at all. Use the page-space for something better. I was seriously not impressed when I was busy playing Portal 2 and read a preview of it in the new Nag.

I buy NAG magazine and sometimes PC Format. The disc for NAG is usually the main factor in me buying the magazine unless there is some awesome feature that I am interested in like the Diablo 3 in this month issue. I don't have uncapped so it is nice to be able to have all those vids / demos on a disc.
PC Format usually have very good revies or features on the hardware so it is nice to check on what is happening with a more informed South African perspective

Stopped buying NAG since I joined MyGaming last year. No use in paying for it since all the latest news and reviews here are more than enough.

I also used to read NAG. It looks very cool and it is quite well written. I just feel it's easier to get and read all the reviews and stuff on the web. Mostly, I still get it every now and again for the disc with the cool videos and content.

wow, I was thinking about buying NAG but these posts have made me rethink that idea. I'll just use the internet instead.

I still buy the nag and PC format, true you can get most (of not all) the reviews and info on the internet, but for some reason i still like reading on paper... primitive i know but there you go. The discs are not always that useful but the vidz, apps and patches are nice plus points. Support local publications guys... its almost same price as a pack of smokes and a lighter

I've absolutely no reason to read that trash. Rather watch dtiod or read mygaming for example.

Your first one? damn you missed out, like 3-4 years ago it was a great magazine, now the quality has just gone down.

I stopped buying it long before I had a solid internet connection - the quality of the writing just went downhill at one point, and I just didn't see the point in putting down what was, back then, an unnecessarily large amount of money. And even though money is less of an issue now, nothing I've seen particularly inclines me to pick it up again.

It's not so much the fact that everything is easily available on the net - I believe that if you're really passionate about something having a physical item you can hold in your hands sits way above the monetary value of the item itself - it's almost similar to where I can choose to buy a game of Steam or walk into the store and buy the box - given the choice I would pay a few rands extra to own the DVDs or whatever it's stored on.

You telling me and I have not even checked out the CD and from what I have read that's the best part, oh wait I need a pc to check it out LOL, but that issue should be sorted out very soon :)
