Vodacom to cap and throttle BIS users: Vodacom #EpicFail

Well it was only a matter of time before that happened... pity the only signal i ever get is EDGE.... otherwise i too would probably have abused the downloads.... Vodascum sucks ass
 
looooooooooooooooool Typical :rolleyes:, this explains why Crackberry is the least recommended phone overseas at the moment, probably due to Cellphone providers throttling people's accounts.
 
was bound to happen sooner or later yeah, now waiting on mtn, 8ta and cellc to follow suit :(
 
One of the biggest draw cards of the blackberry in SA is in fact the BIS and the BBM. Most other overseas markets offer free internet and 500 free text messages on even their lowest contracts. This is a blow for blackberry and they can ill afford it as their market share is steadily decreasing.
 
I think people tend to overreact to something like this.

They are talking about throttling maybe less than 5% of ALL the users in the entire country. Chances are it's not going to affect any of you here at all, infact it will probably improve the experience that you receive.

However with that said, I feel they should in turn reduce the cost of BIS and BES costs to compensate for such changes.
 
Lol interesting. I was waiting for someone to pull that card. Though I've never joined the BB band wagon. As long as my phone can make calls, SMS and allows me to do Internet banking on the run I'm happy with it. But I'm sure this was only due to the abuse by a few people. But then again our grid can't really handle significant loads (stone age grid FTL). But we shall whether the other providers follow suite soon enough, though they will probably tough it out a bit longer

I just read on mybb. Apparently it's everyone using more that 100MB. So most bb user iow.
 
The plans for throttling BB users are currently on hold pending further investigations... Everyone should not have to suffer because of 5 % users.
 
I never got on the BB bandwagon.. I love my iPhone..:) Itz got all I need..:) Including awesome apps which are better than the BB's..:P
