Sony doing the same with the PS3 the games are not region lock but the Blu-Ray movies are...

Lets hope they don't release "UMD movies" or some sort. That was a weak idea for the PSP, and was totally devoid of special features. It was easier to convert a movie and watch on the device.

Ain't that funny? Nintendo's region locking did start on DSi though and it seems that they think it'll protect their local business, I guess...

The Vita doesnt have a drive, maybe they will offer you a streaming option or software to get you want but i am sure it already plays everything you have (except mkv lol).

Thanks man, No Mkv? Thats like the best compression method yet! (Fanboy rant ) I'm betting the software manager will do compression for .mp4. Sony likes that format for some reason.

Sony likes .mp4 cause the HD cam use AVCHD which technically is mp4, so its very compatible with thier other products. As for mkv guess we all want sony to support iyt in the software pretty sure it can run it... but they not listening to us for some reason.
