Rage Textures are ‘Exactly the Same’ on all Platforms, Says John Carmack

Good news for anyone planning on picking up id Software’s RAGE. John Carmack has confirmed via a Tweet that textures in RAGE will be exactly the same across platforms.

The question asked to John most likely stems from a rumor that the PlayStation 3 version of RAGE would be using a PC level “super texture” pack. This appears not to be the case. You can view Carmack’s Tweet below. RAGE launches October 4th on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

How is this good news?

At Quakecon Carmack said the PC version of Rage would probably get a much higher res texture pack which you could use if your PC could handle it. Now we're being told that PC gamers will get the same low res textures that are used on console.

Yup, not seeing the good side to this.

I've had hands-on with RAGE and the PC textures look superior to consoles.

Sure, the actual textures might be the same, but the PC version seems to be using higher resolution textures and has additional processing effects that can be applied to make them look even better.

Ah I see, well that's good news. :)

Rage is shaping up to be a must buy for the season for me, along with Batman Arkham City of course. :)

The cropped off title read "Rage Textures are ‘Exactly the Same’" and I thought they'd remade Quake.. :D

Well, at least it's good news for PS3 users. Multiplats on PS3 always seem to be inferior to the Xbox version. Nice one! :)
