Does xbox 360 have a download manager

Thing is im a 3g user so my line is never "reliable" now when I do big downloads for my PS3 I use the laptop and then run PS3 Proxy, my question is is there anything similar for the xbox360 ?

What happens if you on LIVE downloading a demo and your signal gets lost ? Or does the xbox have its own built in download manager ?

In a way the Xbox 360 has a download manager but it's very basic, as expected and it does what is necessary - pauses, stops, resumes and deletes the downloads that you choose. Simple enough :S

If you leave your 360 on (probably not a good idea), you can que downloads from Xbox.com and they will start downloading on your 360 at home. It's an 'ok' feature albeit limiting since you cannot 'manage' your downloads but rather que them up so when you get home they are available right away.

so if your signal drops or you lose connection the download will resume once the connection has been restored ?

The 360 does not support a proxy, you would have to setup a transparent proxy to get access to XBL, even then you won't likely be able to download patches / demo's etc and redirect the URL's to your local drive like the PS3 Proxy.

Given that you don't reboot your Xbox or clear the cache.

It basically just continues where the connection was interrupted.

eish now theres already 2 conflicting replies.........

I've done this with a 400MB DLC (and others).

Download got interrupted at about 93%. Reconnected my internet connection. Started at 0%... 1%... 93%... finished.

Or maybe I was just lucky? (Doubt it)

I'm pretty sure that you can turn off the xbox and it'll pick up again where it left off when you connect again. I'd have to test it out to be sure though. It'll definitely carry on again if you lose connection and reconnect again. I was downloading the BF3 demo for a friend the other day and it somehow lost connection to xbl at about 89%, so I signed back in and it carried on from there

EDIT: Oh ya, you can at least download the system updates onto a flash stick and update your xbox from that. I don't know if you can do that for games and demos though

I think my post may have been a bit misunderstood. Should the connection drop, and you get disconnected from XBL, when the connection is restored you will still retain what you have downloaded. Once your XBL profile signs in, your download will resume automatically. Make sure to set your profile to auto-signin and you should be good to go, I also tried to get Forza 4 this way but my connection died and my profile was not set to signin automatically to XBL.

Yes.. I have NEVER had any download error.. I download, switch off, plug out and when I plug back in it resumes where it was.. It also resumes where it stops when the power goes out...:)

Yes, Xbox and PS3 both support download resume, as long as the section it was downloading didn't get corrupted by the loss of connection (about 10% of the time that happens)

See above. Power dispruptions and sudden disconnects have the most potential to possible corruption.
Poo happens, don't be surprised when it does.

My experience with both the 360 and PS3 is that they continue downloading when the connection is restored.

Yup, xbox will resume its DL where it left off if anything goes wrong. If you start a multiplayer game your DL will pause and you cant DL 2 things at once but you can que as previously mentioned. So its a very simple DL manager.
