Battlefield 3 PC won’t have in-game VoIP at launch

I’m sure those obnoxious pre-teens swearing at everybody will be a tremendous loss to the whole Battlefield community.

That was really bad in MW2, I also get upset and swear too much, but don't transmit it for the world to hear!
But everyone was typing away swear messeges and name calling in the Beta, anyway.
At least I didn't bother to read it.

If you have to mess around out side of the game to setup VoIP then why would I use the crappy Battlelog chat when I could just get my friends onto a mumble server?

I prefer to use teamspeak with my m8's and I am not one for talking to strangers :)
The last thing I want is someone swearing in my ears all night long while I am trying to sniper.

Secondly it's easier to report and read abuse if it's typed in the chat.

Ventrilo to the rescue.
PC games really don't need builtin VOIP. There are so many options available that do the job far better than any game has ever been able to produce anyway...

Builtin VOIP is more a concern for console games, as their alternatives are around 0.
