They can swing it anyway they want - they still insulted gamers. and the fact that they deleted and are still deleting posts/comments proves just how nonchalant they are about it!

I really thought that the stereotype has changed in the past few years, but then you get people like the Verge that just blatantly and openly insults their target market...
Disgusting.
The content of their show may be what they call 'entertainment', but it is seemingly more valid to pre-teens and toddlers that has no grasp of (and isn't even part of) the actual gaming community.
The people that feel insulted are all of the gamers who are working class and successful IT professionals (which is probably >80% of the gaming community).

They might be the only local games show, but if this is their attitude, then they can kiss their ratings (whats left of it) goodbye!

This is where people need to learn to exercise some self control
Taking the high ground on this would have been easy, laugh about it and forget it, don't watch the show

Instead of that though, all sorts of trolls have now come out of the woodwork to retaliate against this most heinous of offenses

Posting stuff like "She Deserves to be slapped around etc"
Demonstrates nothing aside form the fact that you have a warped outlook on what the Female role in society is, this makes us all look like a bunch of immature idiots

Posting stuff like "I'd do all sorts of nasty things to her etc"
Demonstrates that in conjunction with the above you may also have some repression issues

Keep it clean, don't enforce a stereotype that we are all Geeks that are incapable of dealing with issues outside of Screaming
"N00b" and then making derogatory comments
 
i didnt like the way she treated that first dude who had a wife, trying to belittle him and what not, everyone there came to have a good tiem for the looks of it, someone shoudl have told her:

"take your ass back JHB, go learn some manners, dont came back untill something hits and wakes you up"

or

"sit your $5 ass down before i make some change"

what a fail.....

seriously tho, if she had done that to a bunch of hippies or animal activists i would feel the exact same way, don't undermine and judge people because of what they look like and do for a past time....she just needs a little bit of help in the manners department

Ironic that it is the small minority who are the reason they have a show at all. Take away the minority support and lets see where their show ends up
 
To me its a huge PR/production disaster. They just insulted their target audience?! WTF, are they even serious?! Trying to shift blame and start talking about a minority, grow up and see the lighter side of things. Please! It was a SHIT segment in their show, big fail.

Well, they can suck it! So much lost credibility.

Yeah, but I undermine and make pre-conceived judgement towards hipsters all the time.
 
I find this entire affair laughable. Both from an industry point ( the state of the industry in SA) and from a gamer stand point. I can in all honesty say in all my time in SA i never watched The Verge, the one clip i did see was of the presenter FAILING to play Batman Arkham Asylum (in a non-combat environment) which kinda sold me on the idea that its a show by idiots for idiots. This entire "insult the core demographic" sage has just made me chuckle at the stupidity of the presenter and of those that seems to take this as some sort of personal insult. So the chick thinks gamers a a-social misfits, she isn't the first and she isn't the last. The fact that she host a gaming show should be considered mildly ironic if nothing else.

Maybe everyone is just insulted by her stupidity? Anyway, she's in no position to insult anyone, anyway, since she's just an ignorant fool to begin with. But I understand why people are pissed off. Being ignorant is one thing, but being rude while at it is just very irritating and tends to piss people off.

I think the gaming community is pretty much just telling them to take their show and shove it up their arse.
