you don't have to count them. What tool do use for the text file i assume notepad? if yes just add a status bar and it will tell you what line you are at. no need to count.Try counting about 70 plus lines in a flat text file .... I dare you
As Fabio said, importing into an Excel sheet is the best way, which will be a viable option once I get a machine that doesn't freeze up the minute I open any kind of application (which with any luck will be arriving later today)

It's not that difficult to take the final list and bomb it into excel and do the percentage chance of winning calculation yourselves if it interests you.
