Hey guys I was wondering if its worth getting a wii for R800? Few games look interesting though so I dont know.

Any opinions? I realise its for the uber casual but thats cool sometimes.

i have a wii and i play on it as much as i play on my pc and x360

games definately worth getting

super smash bros brawl
conduit
goldeneye (an enhanced version is coming to 360 and ps3)
zelda twilight princess

wii sports is very addictive but you dont need to get that as that usually comes free with the console (unless they're selling it seperately.

just beware wii accessories are expensive balance boards are around R900 wii motes +-R500 etc.

My lil brother has a Wii but he is playing more on his PS2 then on the Wii (since the batteries died on the remote and he is too lazy to replace it)

Active Wii player here, I can think of a few suggestions for games, but I think you should tell us what genres interest you. Looking for great Wii games is tough when there's a sea of crappy ones.

Wii is best played with friends, I find myself getting bored too easily if its only me.

Yeah, agree to this. This is the only time I use mine. Playing with friends or when I have to join the wife with Mario.
I haven't played on my own yet.

For myself xbox360 & PS3...

I have a Wii, but I hardly ever play it nowadays, the xbox and ps3 get more attention. Some games I did enjoy on the Wii though are Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Red Steel.

I have a Wii Fit with the balance board and stuff, but the novelty wears off quickly

The Wii is a very social console and is best enjoyed with a few friends. But, there are some good games on there for single player use. Here are a few that you can play on your own that are very cool:

Super Mario Galaxy 1+2
Okami
MadWorld
No More Heroes 1+2
Rabbids Go Home (I like it because of the weirdness)
Red Steel 2

There are tons more where that came from. For the price that you can get it, I recommend that you go for it. The games should be pretty cheap nowadays

I have a wii, and I love it. You may think of it as a casual gaming system, but the games are just as challenging.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are awesome! But my favourite game is Donkey Kong Country Returns. It is beautiful, humorous, and super challenging! You can play some really awesome games that are hard, but give you a feel good vibe instead of a fright haha.

Oh and Mario Kart of course!!!! :)

You wont go wrong with wii tennis, I still love that game! And love kicking people's asses ;)

I guess if I were to be putting some suggestions here by genre...

Great Games:
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2.
Mario Kart Wii
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Goldeneye 007

--Others By Genre--

Horror Games
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Dead Space Extraction

Action Games
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Indiana Jones: Staff of Kings
Dragon Ball
Epic Mickey
Sengoku Basara
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Super Paper Mario
Sky Crawlers
Ghostbusters
Metroid Other M (story is hilariously awful though)
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions

Driving/Racing Games
F1 2009
Ferrari Challenge (or Ferrari Race Experience, which generally has more than the former).
MotoGP 08
Driver San Francisco

Fighting Games
Tatsunoko vs Capcom
Tournament of Legends (needs patience with motion control)
Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (or 3, I guess)
Castlevania: Judgment

Shooters
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty 3
Conduit 1 & 2

Casual
Another Code R
Endless Ocean 2 (or 1... but that one has less stuff to do).
Monopoly (for board gamers)
Sims 3 (pretty glitchy)
Wii Sports Resort

Music
Can't go wrong with Guitar Hero and Rockband stuff.

Sports
Virtua Tennis 4
Pro Evo Soccer games (2009 onwards)

Wii is awesome, and its so easy to hack and load games from USB. You can scroll through all your games by cover art. Just a heads up when downloading games, try find scrubbed titles which are considerably smaller, for example Wii Play is 90mb the iso is 4.4GB. For me the best game is New Super Mario Bro's best by far and its a 400mb download! Then All the Guitar Hero games.

Wii are always best played with friends, but also fun by yourself. But some games are very tiring like Donkey Kong and Soul Caliber

I've had some good times on the Wii - but as previously mentioned. Its at its best with a few friends in a social context, but the novelty does wear off after awhile (for me anyways).

Does anyone know where you can get super mario galaxy 2 and donkey country returns second hand?

Sent from my U20i using MyGaming Android App

I use to play on my Wii a lot then got bored of it since I couldnt get games I liked for it here since it was a US wii

I'm a super Wii user and will choose my Wii over my Xbox 360 any day.

If you're up for a great action-adventure game on Wii check out The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Without a doubt the best game on the Wii and my choice for Game of the Year!

All of the games mentioned in this thread are well worth a visit! Super Mario Galaxy 2 is acclaimed as one of the best titles ever and I'd recommend it too :)

Why would you want to hack it though?
