Nvidia to get DX11 GPU out this year

I still don't see the point.

The move from 9-10 was just LOL!

Sure it has to mature, but I feel like DX10 was like vista. Only an interrim OS, to keep fans happy till 7.

?Unhappy? Lol:D

But i agree. The jump from dx9 to 10 was a bit of a joke tbh.

And to make it worst 11 is so little diff from 10.1 that almost not worth mentioning it.
other than 1 or 2 new futures its mainly a bug fix version

Agree with everyone. I fell for the DX10 hype and won't fall for it again.

Untill there is absolute proof that DX11 is completely worth it, my 8800Ultra will still be the G-card I use.

The problem with DX10 is that you needed Vista to use it, and most people avoided Vista, so game dev's had to make sure their games run on DX9 first, and any DX10 features became optional. I expect DX10 to be the primary target going forward after Win7 arrives, and then replaced by DX11 once most people actually get DX11 cards :)

The best part of going to DX10 was the unified shader processors that came with those series of cards. What is DX11 bringing besides a few minor updates to the DX10 API?

dx11 is anyways more like a dx10.5 if you look at the promised features. same quiestion that there is no logic to jump the next wagon with each version when the previous one haven't matured enough yet.

i'm sure (finally) we will move away from DX9 soon, who knows what developers maybe able to do with graphics if they don't have to cater for DX9. PS how was the transition from 8 to 9? did it take long? was it a software and or hardware upgrade? Before my time really.

i think dx7 to 9 was mainly software update like from 10.1 to 11 is.
and maybe a little hardware updates to fix bugs and small inprovments
