32 or 64 bit

Okay so lets say you have less than 4gb of ram, is 64bit worth it then?

You cannot expand later then.

What is the issue with x64? Hardly any programs have issues. And these are usually the weird little side programs

Dunno if theirs a difference in price, but get the 64 since you can always put in more RAM. Plus, I'm pretty sure I read that 32bit version cant address more than 3GB of ram or 3.5GB or something (2^32). hmmm, wait, my maths says that it should be able to adress 4GB...I duno, will have to check it out.

BUt yah, get 64bit. and there are no compatability issues. that may have been the case 4 or 5 years ago but everyone codes to 64 these days.

I would really like to know what's this fear some people seem to have about x64, it's flippen win 3.1 to 3.11, windows 95 to 98, 98 to xp, xp to win7 all over again :D

I can understand though if you fear 98 to ME or xp to vista ;)

Vista actually turned out to be fine. Bit of a resource hog of course, but otherwise quite good.

I think there is still residual fear of 64 bit because it was a huge pain in the past.

If you buy the retail version you get 32 bit and 64 bit discs. 32 bit can address 4Gb, but other things are mapped into that address space.

Compatibility on Windows 7 is even better than Vista. I have yet to find anything that didn't work with one of the compatibility options.
