Well the Hard drive grumbled like a hobo's stomach, so annoying yet not that important.

Most importantly 1 month after purchase I sat down and noticed 4 very dark "burn" marks on the screen. Looked almost like water marks the size of a 20c piece. After googling it turns out this is a very wide spread problem with the iMac and Apple refuse to acknowledge it and blame the user for "poor working environment" like dust and water etc which is BS. Loads of people across the world are at war with Apple over this exact issue. Funny thing is every complaint was exactly the same, top right hand corner. Some think the machine over heats and "burns" the layers under the screen.

Anyway I was advised to remove the front screen and see if it was possibly dirt, which I did only to find that on the inside of the screen someone has written in big black marker. After positing on the Apple support forum it was clarified that I most likely bought a refurbed unit. How the fuck do you sell a refurb unit as "brand new". Not to mention Apple wouldn't give me a new machine. They wanted to book it in for 2 weeks to "look" at the issue. I told them quite plainly to go fuck themselves and EVENTUALLY they gave me a refund.


Now you see why? :p

Correct. Never had a problem with either of my Macbooks. I assumed that the quality on the iMac was on par. Bad mistake.

O well, you live and you learn. Just glad I got my moola back.

I am quite keen on selling mine macbook and getting the pro.

ive got the pro high on my list. Next big thing Im getting since I got my tv. I want a custom order 1 though, up the memory from 4 to 8gb and maybe up the HHD space also but I may just get a timecapsule to store my data or cloud it.

Don't custom order, they will just ass rape you. Buy stock and fit the extra RAM and new HDD yourself. You will save a lot, trust me. I put a Hybrid SSD in mine but it didn't go very well, overheated like mad.

I really like the Macbook air, but the SDD space is kak. Only 64 or 128GB's.

Have to agree with you on this one, I've also got a macbook and no shit whatsoever!

Cool, thanks for the tip. Will get it off Amazon when I get it then.
Yeah the space also put me off the Air. For what I want (Unity, Photoshop, Maya, Unreal SKD etc) high end pro is for me, The Mrs is thinking Air since she doesnt need huge space, the university has its own cloud and like I said @ home I want a 2 or 3 tb timecapsule.

Cool. Remember the Macbooks use normal RAM and normal HDD's. Apple seem to think they can charge a premium for these if you want to add them on.

The Macbook pro will be perfect for you then.

So the Macbooks dont have special Apple ram &/or HDDs? Interesting.

All their components are made by external companies like Foxcon, seagate etc.

But yeah, you can easily pop on a 1TB in. Or better yet pop in a SSD. They apparently work amazingly on the Macbook pros.
