Telkom has 40Mbps broadband in the works

I dont care about the line speed, they can sort the CAP pricing out first. i'm happy with 4MB / 10MB lines for now. just need more CAP!

Lets just hope they actually bring the infrastructure up to scratch before then. Just look at how the introduction of 10mb/s screwed the infrastructure over.

2015......Hopefully we all will still be alive by that time!lol! Telkom still has too much of a monopoly in this country and they have too much freedom to push consumers around. Regardless of this they still have the best infrastructure of all service providers in this country because they have been a monopoly for so long......lets all just hope.

Entry level speeds of 2mps would be quite impressive!

Yeah since at home we use 384 on 5 gig cap that is going to be shared among 6 computers if each person in the house connects at the same time. Kinda makes things pretty slow.

The internet in this country needs some work. A 40Mbps line sounds amazing, but how big will the cap be? And what, besides downloading, can we use it for? When does SA get Netflix, Spotify and the full Apple store?

pffft, good luck on that one. Most if not all can't see past the speed part. What's the use of 40Mbps when we can't even run 4Mbps stable? I would have to wonder how exactly this is possible with our current state of IPC/Network and so on.

Stabilize the line and cheaper uncapped then 40 meg, The cap won't even last a day. 16gig cap will be the new 1gig top up

What this country needs is a competitor that can give Telkom the finger and get some proper competition going as far as fixed connections are concerned.
I don't even have ADSL thanks to their crappy infrastructure. And I'm living in Pretoria, like 3 blocks away from Menlyn and am surrounded by embassies and diplomats' houses, yet Telkom can't even tell me when there will be ports at the dam exchange. They think some media hype is going to redeem them but they can't provide even basic services to a very big portion of the potential market out there.
Screw 'em!

oh yea great 40mb line in 3 years (if that even happens) we are so far behind the rest of the world u could say we are still in the stone age when my buddies over in Europe are already running on 150-200mb/s lines. Sweden student package, u get over 100 TV channels, Phone, and 150mb/s internet for 35 Euro's a month.

40mbs sounds like alot of fun, but unfortunately i am still waiting for them to upgrade my area to 10mbs apparently not enough demand to make my area 10mbs enabled. So i am stuck on 4mbs till people decide that 384kbs isnt internet... Sad. So a for the 40mbs i am sure they launch it, but half the country wont see it. Cause thats how they work..
