Telkom has 40Mbps broadband in the works

i wouldnt hold my thumbs for this. The fact that there are a lot of places that cant even run 1mbps service yet without constantly disconnecting makes me wonder if they can implement the minimum speed of 2mbps. I really really wish the line speeds would improve but i just dont see it happening under Telkoms name.

When Telkom upgraded to 10, we were supposed to be automatically upgraded to 10 , from 4 as well...
we are still waiting...
Well soon the slowest will be 2, that helps with general use and gameplay for most.

i live in the pretoria centurion area i've got a stable 6MB line here is the funny thing whenever i request my router to show me statistics, it shows that my exchange have a 20MB capability ......... oh how i wish they are busy testing the 8MB phase so hopefully i can upgrade to it. will get a screen shot tonight and upload it.

I hate Telkom. They are really the pinnacle of KAK service.
They charge me for installation fee R600. But they didn't install anything. This is the 2nd time this has happened in 3 months. They also charge me line rental for 2 months when my line is only with them for a few days before Mweb took it over. So now I'm double paying and I'm never getting my money back. Flippen Scum

I will upgrade the day a snot like you pays for it.
As it is, 384k users are subsidizing your lines... least you could do is not be a prick about it.

My apologies, didnt mean to sound like an ass, its not 384k users fault really and I didnt mean you should upgrade either. I was thinking more in the line that we some how need to get telkom to realise that in world standards 384k really is slow. I am aware that 384k are subsidizing the 4mb lines. And that you guys have been getting the short end of the stick for years come upgrade time, even the 512kb have been upgrade already.

So i know its not your fault, and if i could help you pay for your line to be upgraded i would, without thinking. But i am not rich, and probably never will be, but i always thought if i were to win the lottery i would use the money to upgrade infrustructure for internet..

Telkom's view on what internet is:

Product overview
Broadband DSL

Broadband is high speed data access to the Internet or your company LAN at line sync speeds higher than 256kbps. Broadband by virtue of its speed makes life easier as you can now access the world of information from the web, whether it be for your childrens school assignment or downloading cool music and even joining the world wide gaming community online.
