WoW could lose 1.6 million players to SW:TOR claims dubious survey

Based on some of the beta reviews I've read so far only the hard-core Star Wars fanboys will hang around.

To be fair, the reviews are based on early beta plays, but they're almost universally panning the game.

I think its possible that they could lose quite a few subs to star wars. Cant say at this point if im going to play the MMO even though I have to say the 6 Star Wars movies are my all time favourites. Im just not sure if i want to be dissapointed with it because recent star wars games have done nothing but dissapointed me(force unleashed, etc). I loved the older 1's (jedi academy etc) but not sure how this will turn out. Looks like another wow ripoff and couldn't bare another fail to my favourite fantasy, although in saying that i think it will be a fail, theres only one way to find out and thats to wait for release day and see if any buds get it then ill give it a go and make my final decision.

If there is one thing nerds like more than Elves & Magic (with the exception of boobies) its Star Wars. I think it will comedown to how well SWTOR grabs the crowed long term.

I could probably poll more people in General chat on a wow realm than they did for this survey. :)

However, I think WoW probably will lose a big chunk of players to SWTOR at least at launch, whether they stay is a different issue.

Those reviews are based on current beta play... which in one month time is release data, I doubt they can change the whole combat system, and other major things that people are saying is WOWish (again); combat is one of the most dissapointing things from what I read.

Very small survey done to get to those numbers leaving WOW, I think SWTOR is going to be a success nonetheless, but without me...

No. Just no.
See you're a little wrong.

Lemme Fix it for ya.

I think it will comedown to how well SWTOR integrates aforementioned boobies with lightsabers in the long term.

There ya go!

Boobies AND lightsabers?! Holy shit man, the world could end and the nerds wouldn't notice at that point.
(and yes, I'm one of the nerds too)

Added to a recent report that League Of Legends has surpassed WoW in player numbers,
its only a matter of time until WoW dies a quiet death ,
Honestly , how long can you keep playing the same game over and over and over ad nauseum ?
Ive played WoW for over 5 years , left as i was bored out of my mind ,
blizzard are already working on the next big MMO , they know WoW can only last so long.

I personally think WoW will never completely go away. Blizzard will inevitably drop the game, but there's tons of private servers out there already. Imagine how, to this day, Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 3 still gets some game time from players is amazing.

Hahaha, I think we underestimate peoples love for WoW. When that silly PANDA update comes out all 1.6million of those people will jump right back on the WoW band wagon. Personally I played WoW for like 2hours and thought it was the most boring experience of my life.
