Kinect 2 will read your lips

SO the first one is still failing (gaming) left right and centre and they are already planning a second generation Kinect? :wtf:

Weeeeellll, the first Xbox also failed :) So maybe Microsoft have a thing with second attempts?

Also, "failed" - it kinda depends on your stance - it's actually quite a success if you look at things over-all.

Original Xbox did not fail. It was just never marketed in SA. Here in the UK it was huge! Not as huge as the PS2 but still.

Which i why I said fail gaming. As a piece of tech is brilliant and can do all kinds of cool stuffz. As a gaming Peripheral, IMO, it fails.

24 million units worldwide in 2006 - of which 6 million were in Europe.

It still did better than the Dreamcast and the Gamecube - and I don't think any of them "failed" per se - but compared to PS2's 150 million units and its very brief time on the market - on a direct competition basis, there's more of an indication that the Xbox failed than there is to say the Kinect failed - especially when it's out-selling it's direct competitor this time around.

And again, there are plenty of games for the Kinect - I happen to agree with you that they're mostly kak - but just because *we* don't like them, doesn't make them any less popular amongst other gamers, and it doesn't make it a failed gaming system.

By all measures, the Kinect is actually pretty damn successful - and the tech is developing to be used in places other than gaming, which is also grand.

I don't care for it, but you've got to hand it to Microsoft for at least making some pretty awesome technological advances.

EVERYthing Microsoft makes is okay the second time...

XBox bad, 360 good
Kinect bad, Kinect 2 good
windows 98 good, Me bad, XP good, vista bad, win 7 good, win 8 should be a fail?

You forgot the ultimate bad at the start of the windows chain there.

Windows 95: The ultimate triumph of marketing over product!

The first one failed to deliver what they originally showcased. Lets hope the next one is a huge improvement. It could take interacting to the next level if they manage to do things right.

Bwahaha

“Hello Quinton, my objective analysis of your facial expressions indicates you’re depressed today. It has been 8.32 days since you last smiled.”

As a rule of thumb, every second operating system that's released by MS is always a fail. I will go as far as to say that I will be extremely disappointed if Windows 8 is NOT a fail.

I find it quite hard to believe that the Kinect2 will have the resolution, framespeed and processing power to read lips.

But, there hasn't been a single good Kinect game yet, and now they're planning the second one?
